Deerfoot Inn & Casino Guide and Review

The Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Canada, primarily known as a casino, offers a multifaceted experience that extends beyond the gaming floor, encompassing accommodation, dining, and live entertainment. Based on recent guest feedback, the establishment garners significant praise for its exceptional staff and vibrant event atmosphere, though dining experiences can be somewhat inconsistent.
Exceptional Service & Staff Dedication π
A recurring theme across numerous reviews is the outstanding level of customer service. Guests consistently highlight the staff's kindness, respect, and welcoming demeanor. From front-of-house greeters and bouncers to waiting staff, housekeeping, and casino personnel, employees are noted for going "above and beyond" to ensure a positive visit. One reviewer specifically recalled how staff members, including an employee named Katelyn, went to great lengths to resolve a ticketing issue for a concert, showcasing a commitment to guest satisfaction that truly makes a difference.
Furthermore, the venue's dedication to accessibility and dignity is commendable. During an 80s theme party, staff were observed treating a wheelchair-bound guest with utmost respect, holding doors and making them feel welcome by allowing early entry. This level of compassion leaves a lasting positive impression on visitors.
Dining Experiences: Hits and Misses π½οΈ
The culinary offerings at Deerfoot Inn & Casino present a mixed bag:
Outstanding Value at the 55 Traditional Breakfast:
The 55 Traditional Breakfast, priced at an impressive $4.99, receives glowing reviews. Guests describe the breakfast as "outstanding," served hot, and with a generous portion size. The inclusion of free coffee and tea adds to its appeal, making it a highly recommended and frequent destination for many senior visitors.
Casino Cafe: Room for Improvement:
In contrast, the casino cafe received a strong critique regarding its lunch offerings. One guest reported a very disappointing experience with an overcooked, dry beef burger and hard, seemingly old fries. A chicken burger also suffered from a "hard chew quality." Despite pleasant staff, the food quality itself was deemed "not enjoyable," leading to a decision not to dine there again, especially given the nearly $50 bill for two burgers and one beverage.
Vibrant Entertainment & Events πΈ
The Deerfoot Inn & Casino is a notable hub for entertainment, hosting various themed parties and concerts. Guests have lauded events such as the '80s theme party, praising the band "Silly Rabbit" for their energetic performance and ability to play "amazing songs consecutively." The venue successfully creates memorable nights for attendees, solidifying its reputation as a great place for live music and themed gatherings.
Overall Cleanliness & Environment β¨
While specific mentions are limited, one review noted that the casino itself was clean, contributing to a generally pleasant environment for guests to enjoy the gaming facilities.
In summary, Deerfoot Inn & Casino stands out for its exceptional staff, who consistently deliver kind, respectful, and helpful service. While specific dining experiences, like the 55 breakfast, are highly praised, the casino cafe's food quality appears to be an area needing significant attention. Nevertheless, the lively event calendar and commitment to guest satisfaction make it a noteworthy destination in Calgary.
Had one of the best nights of my entire life at this place during their '80s theme party.Silly rabbit did an absolutely great jobI'm amazed by the ability for the lead singer and the band to consecutively play so many amazing songs.I look forward to returning to this event. On a side note I was with a friend who's bound to a wheelchair and the bouncers waiting staff and greeters all treated him with respect and dignity and went out of their way to hold doors for him and make him feel welcome by allowing him into the venue first .I will not soon forget the kindness and compassion that your staff showed for me and my friends.God bless you all
Casino cafe review onlyStopped in the cafe for a late lunch on Friday afternoon. Ordered a burger and also a Chicken burger. The beef burger was over well done and very dry, hard to chew and made my jaw hurt. The fries were hardened and felt like they were from under a heat lamp from a few hours. Had to add a lot of ketchup to keep the dryness and hardness from having to force myself to chew them.Took chicken burger home and was eaten later, but also had the same hard chew quality. Bill was nearly $50 for 2 burgers and one beverage. Will not be going there to eat again.Casino is clean and everything else was fine, just a very bad experience on the food from the cafe, the staff was pleasant and cheerful. Just the food was not enjoyable.
I recently took my senior lady friends for the first time to the Deerfoot Inn & Casino for the 55+ Traditional Breakfast at $4.99. The breakfast and service were outstanding. The breakfast was served hot and the portion size was large. Coffee and tea are included free of charge. We enjoyed ourselves so much weβre going to make this a monthly event.
We had the best experience! I had bought tickets for the wrong night and one of the employees - her name was Katelyn went over and above to get us in to see the Bellamy Brothers in the night we were there. It was amazing!
I have come to this place on multiple occasions I really do love all the staff they are so kind and really deserve a good review. The housekeeping were so kind especially the lady working on the 5th floor this weekend. I want to give specific shout outs to three ladies the one working housekeeping the one in the casino at the island bar and the one in the casino at the pub. Thank you so much for your service and how kind and welcoming you made me and my family feel. Overall the whole staff was amazing. Thank you so much for everything.
