Casino Rama Guide and Review

Casino Rama, located in Rama, Canada, presents itself as a premier entertainment and gaming destination. Based on recent visitor feedback, the experience here is a blend of impressive shows and amenities, contrasted with significant areas needing improvement, particularly concerning service, communication, and overall guest value.
Entertainment & Venue Experience 🎭
The entertainment centre at Casino Rama frequently hosts notable acts, with users praising the quality of shows, such as comedy performances and tribute bands like Brit Floyd. It's often highlighted as a great spot for a show.
However, the venue itself draws criticism. Attendees frequently mention uncomfortable seating and limited legroom in the entertainment centre. Some have also noted that the centre can feel warm and humid. A more pressing concern arises from logistical issues during events, including severe parking congestion after shows, leading to extended delays for exiting guests, which has been described as "ridiculous and unsafe."
A particularly strong point of contention is the lack of effective communication during unforeseen circumstances. One detailed review recounts a frustrating experience during a power outage leading to a show cancellation. Patrons were left uninformed for extended periods, with announcements only made in limited areas, leading to significant confusion and dissatisfaction with staff responsiveness and empathy. This highlights a critical area for improvement in crisis management and customer transparency.
Gaming & Resort Ambiance 🎲
While the casino/resort area is generally described as "pretty cool" and "very clean and nice overall" by some, a sentiment of decline is evident. One reviewer lamented that Casino Rama is a "shadow of its former self," noting a sharp decline in attendance and a lack of the bustling atmosphere it once had. The general casino experience is not considered a "Vegas experience."
Dining Options & Service 🍽️
Dining experiences at Casino Rama appear to be inconsistent. While the buffet dinner received praise as "excellent," other restaurant offerings were described less favorably. One comprehensive critique stated that restaurants are "mostly empty" and that the "food, whichever place you go to, is terrible."
A recurring issue across different aspects of the resort is staffing and service availability. Visitors report hardly any staff available, making it "rare" to get basic service like a coffee from an attendant. This contributes to a perception of declining standards and unfulfilled expectations for guest service.
Accommodation Value 🏨
The hotel component of Casino Rama receives direct criticism for its pricing. Room rates, especially on peak nights like Saturdays, are considered "ridiculously expensive," with one guest citing a rate of $499 per night as a "gross money grab." This suggests that the value proposition for overnight stays may not align with guest expectations.
Location Advantage & Disadvantage 📍
The casino's location "basically in the middle of nowhere" is a double-edged sword. Some appreciate the secluded setting, while others find it exacerbates issues like parking lot egress, making it difficult to leave quickly after an event.
Key Takeaways for Future Visitors
- 🎭 Consider Casino Rama primarily for its entertainment shows, but be prepared for potentially uncomfortable seating and significant post-show parking delays.
- ⚠️ Be aware of potential communication issues, especially concerning show updates or cancellations.
- 🍲 The buffet seems to be a solid dining choice, but general restaurant quality and service availability might be inconsistent.
- 💰 Expect high room rates, particularly on weekends.
- 🤷♀️ Manage expectations regarding customer service and staffing levels, which some perceive as a significant decline from past standards.
We popped in last week since we had never been. We did not stay at the hotel but enjoyed the gaming floor for a couple of hours. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, was a great experience. Cleanliness is perfect, staff overly friendly and caring about your needs and the ladies at the customer service were excellent.
Came for a comedy show in the entertainment centre. The seats are a bit uncomfortable and there’s not a lot of leg room. The centre was also a bit warm/humid. But the show was great and the casino/resort area is pretty cool. I like that the location is basically in the middle of nowhere.
I had tickets to see Sebastian Maniscalco tonight and with the freezing rain it had caused power outages in Orillia. Doors for the show were supposed to open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. I had gotten there at 7:15 and didn’t actually realize there was an outage because the generator was on and although the doors to the show didn’t open I just figured they were late. Time continues to pass and with a large crowd of people around no one knows what’s happening and whether the show is still happening. People in the crowd started to share that there isn’t full power to host the show which is understandable. The clincher is that the casino didn’t make any announcement to at least notify people what the plan was or even timing for when we’ll know whether or not the show is still happening. Especially consider people are standing in a crow for over an hour after doors are supposed to open.I asked an employee if he had an update and when there will be an announcement and he disregarded the conversation and kept saying there’s a power outage, which isn’t even the point. About 8:20 we were then told by people who were lining up near the casino that the show was cancelled and she only knew because there was an announcement in the actual casino only - no where in the entrance or lobby area where the other half of the people were.I spoke to another employee about simply recommending communication even if there isn’t a resolution, but to be transparent with people about when a decision will be made to cancel. She kept justifying and not listening to what I was saying which made me feel like I wasn’t being heard especially when she just turned around and ignored me. What disappoints isn’t the power outage or cancellation of the show, but rather the lack of communication, customer service, and professionalism of the employees. This is the last time I’ll ever be going to Rama. Training on empathy might add value to help make customers feel they’re being heard.
A shadow of its former self.I remember when casino Rama was a bustling place. Recently I’ve noticed a sharp decline in attendance. Hardly any staff available. Getting an attendant to bring just a coffee is rare. The restaurants are mostly empty. The food, whichever place you go to, is terrible. If you’re looking for a Vegas experience this is certainly not the place.
Went to see Brit Floyd on a Saturday night. We had dinner and did a bit of gambling. It was a great spot for a show. The buffet dinner was excellent. Very clean and nice overall. The rooms on a Saturday night were ridiculously expensive. $499 per night on the reservation. Just a gross money grab.
