Casino pickering

Located in Pickering, near Toronto, Canada, Pickering Casino offers a modern gambling and entertainment experience. While the facility boasts impressive amenities and a vibrant atmosphere, recent visitor feedback highlights significant concerns, particularly regarding security protocols and table game minimums.

The Good: Modern Amenities & Vibrant Atmosphere ✨

Many visitors appreciate the casino's contemporary design and extensive offerings. It's described as a nice, new casino with an attached hotel, providing a convenient stay for guests. Practical features include a covered, free parkade and its proximity to the Pickering Go Station, making it easily accessible.

Inside, the casino impresses with its sheer size and variety. Reviewers mention a huge area with lots of gaming tables and a fantastic atmosphere. Beyond the gaming floor, there are several convenient options:

  1. Restaurants and bars, including a Starbucks. It's worth noting that all sit-down restaurants are located inside the casino, meaning patrons must be of legal gambling age to access them.
  2. Specific dining deals such as Wednesday wing night and Tuesday half-price appetizers at one of the restaurants.
  3. A 24-hour Chinese fast-food restaurant for quick bites.
  4. Clean restrooms and readily available complimentary tea and pop drinks.
  5. Plenty of spaces to relax beyond the gaming action.

For those looking for a general casino experience with varied entertainment and dining options, Pickering Casino presents a comprehensive package.

The Bad: Security Woes & High Table Minimums 👎

Despite its appealing infrastructure, Pickering Casino faces criticism on two major fronts: highly scrutinized security checks and prohibitive table game minimums.

Entrance Security Concerns 🚫

Several reviews describe frustrating and unsettling experiences at the entrance security. One visitor, a regular casino-goer, recounted two incidents within a month where a specific security staff member subjected them to an extensive ID interrogation. This included scanning a valid Ontario driver's license multiple times on different devices, close examination for over five minutes, and repetitive questioning of personal details like date of birth and full name. The concern was heightened by observations that other guests, some appearing younger, were allowed to enter without any ID check during this prolonged scrutiny. This led to feelings of being singled out, unfairly profiled, and discriminatory treatment, particularly as an individual of Indian descent. The experience was likened to an "FBI-style interrogation," leaving the visitor feeling humiliated and unwelcome, ultimately choosing to leave.

Another incident involved a patron being denied entry due to an expired driver's license, which is standard policy. However, the situation escalated when their sisters, who had already gained entry, were then forced to re-queue and have their IDs re-checked simply for associating with the denied individual. A security staff member reportedly made an inappropriate comment about one sister's "long name," which was due to cultural naming conventions. These experiences lead to accusations of "power tripping" or "racist" behavior from security staff, prompting calls for better training in cultural sensitivity and respectful communication from management.

High Table Minimums 💸

A significant drawback for table game enthusiasts is the perceived high minimum bets. One reviewer expressed disappointment at the lack of open blackjack tables at or below $25, stating that hands often required $50. This can severely limit playtime and fun for those with a more modest budget, pushing players towards online alternatives that offer lower minimums and faster transactions. This policy leaves some patrons feeling that the casino expects them to "afford $50 hands," leading them to seek entertainment elsewhere.

Overall Takeaway

Pickering Casino offers a modern and amenity-rich environment that can provide an enjoyable experience for some. Its range of dining options, convenient location, and large gaming floor are definite positives. However, the casino's reputation is currently marred by serious allegations of discriminatory and unprofessional conduct from security staff, along with a pricing structure for table games that many find exclusionary. Potential visitors should be aware of these issues, especially concerning ID verification processes and table game budgets, before planning their visit.

I’m 33 years old and have been visiting Pickering Casino—as well as other casinos—regularly without any issues, until recently. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced two separate incidents within the past month that left me feeling disrespected and discriminated against. At the entrance, there was a short, thin female security staff member who questioned me extensively, despite me providing a valid Ontario driver’s license. She scanned my ID five to six times on three different devices, examined it closely for over five minutes, and asked several questions—my date of birth, full name, and even asked me to spell my name. While I understand that security checks are important, what bothered me most is that during this time, she allowed multiple other guests to enter without checking their ID at all, including many who appeared to be younger than me. I was with my partner, and we both felt singled out and unfairly profiled. This was not an isolated experience. The same staff member did this on both occasions, and I strongly believe her behavior was discriminatory, especially toward me as an Indian individual. It felt less like a routine ID check and more like an FBI-style interrogation or border screening, which was both humiliating and unnecessary.Eventually, she did let me in—but after such treatment, I chose to leave the casino out of self-respect. I didn’t feel welcome or comfortable after that experience.I would also like to request that management review the entrance security footage, including audio if available, from the date and time of the incident. I’m confident I’m not the only Indian visitor she’s treated this way. It’s important to identify and correct this kind of behavior.Racial profiling and poor customer service have no place in a public entertainment venue. I urge Pickering Casino management to properly train front-line staff on cultural sensitivity and respectful communication. After two such experiences, I will not be returning—and I sincerely hope no one else has to go through what I did.

I happened to come here twice, and both times I had the best time with friends. It has a huge area, lots of gaming tables, and a fantastic atmosphere. In addition to tea and other pop drinks, the restrooms are clean. There is a bar, food, and plenty of places to relax.

There are no open tables at/below 25$ for blackjack. I just walked out, and I'll give my money to BetMgm. fast withdrawal and deposits with 10-15$ minimums for blackjack. Looks nice inside, but I will not be back. It's sad that casinos will let people walk out and say, "You must afford 50$ hands." I wanna have fun losing my money, not lose it all in 10 minutes.

Bad experience we went last night with my sister, basically i cant go in because my drivers licence is expired. My birthday is april 1 and its april 18 lastnight i told the guy can i still go in because its still april and i didnt know my id is expired and i was busy working thats why i didnt notice my card is expired. So my older sisters get in because they have the casino card but they go out to talk me why i cant go in and when they trying to go back the security asked them if they with me, and his like go back in the line the other security need to checked ur id again because im with them. The security comment to my sister Id 'why your name is long?' Sorry in culture we put our moms maiden name thats why is long.I dont get it why they need to go back in line if they get in already and they have casino card already.I feel those security is power tripping or just racist.
