Casino Rio Guide and Review

Casino Rio, nestled in the vibrant city of Cartagena, Colombia, offers a gaming experience that garners a range of opinions from its visitors. As a primary casino establishment, it presents a mixed bag of highlights and notable drawbacks. Based on recent patron feedback, understanding both its strengths and weaknesses is key for anyone considering a visit.
Overall Atmosphere & Vibe π°
- Many visitors describe the atmosphere at Casino Rio as "chill" with a generally "good vibe".
- The casino is noted for its good music, contributing positively to the overall ambiance.
- An "appropriate" corner snack bar is available for refreshments. However, it's worth noting that recent renovations have led to limited drinks and temporary closures of the full restaurant service, which was previously praised for its affordability. Visitors hope for its full return soon.
Gaming Experience & Payouts π²
- Casino Rio provides a variety of games to cater to different player preferences.
- For Roulette enthusiasts, the casino is highly regarded, with one reviewer calling it the "best [roulette machine] I've seen." The minimum bids are notably low, set at 1,000 COP for singles and 5,000 COP for black/red, making it accessible for casual play.
- Ultimate Poker has blinds configured at 15,000 COP 15,000 COP, totaling 30,000 COP.
- Experiences with slot machines appear to be mixed. While some long-time visitors have reported previous success, more recent observations suggest that new slot machines "do not seem to pay out very well," with patrons noting consistent losses and a lack of other customers winning.
- Concerns were also raised about the emptiness of table games during some visits, leading to suspicion among some players regarding the overall gaming environment.
- Despite these concerns, at least one visitor reported Casino Rio as a place where they "win here the most," particularly on table games, indicating that winning experiences are possible.
Service & Staff Interaction π€
- This aspect of Casino Rio is a point of considerable contrast in reviews.
- One highly critical review cited the service as "by far the worst service and attention in Colombia," describing feeling "invisible" and encountering staff who would stare, promise assistance, but never return.
- Conversely, other patrons have found the staff to be "friendly," though some mentioned their English skills might be "terrible," which could pose a communication barrier for international visitors. A specific mention was made of one staff member who was friendly and helpful.
Important Transaction Information π°
- A crucial detail for international visitors is that Casino Rio reportedly does not accept US dollars. This can be a significant inconvenience, as it necessitates visitors to convert their currency to Colombian Pesos (COP) beforehand or seek exchange from other patrons, which is described as "no bueno."
Conclusion β¨
Casino Rio in Cartagena offers a gaming experience that caters to those looking for a laid-back atmosphere with accessible low-stakes games like roulette. Its general vibe and music contribute positively to the visit. However, potential patrons should be prepared for potential inconsistencies in service quality and, more importantly, the strict policy of not accepting US dollars. While some have enjoyed winning sessions, particularly on table games, others have expressed concerns about slot machine payouts and the overall liveliness of the gaming floor. For a visit, it's recommended to have Colombian Pesos readily available and manage expectations regarding staff attentiveness and payout consistency.
I've been to a few Casinos , this one has by far the worst service and attention in Colombia. Felt I was invisible, apart from the girl in glasses who was friendly and helpful. But others just stared , said they'll be coming and never turned up again.
I really enjoyed the Casino, friendly staff (terrible English).Very low bid for the rullete (1000 peso for the singles and 5 for the black/red etcβ¦)Great roulette machine, best Iβve seen.Ulitimate poker blinds are 15000 and 15000 peso (total 30,000)Loved it!
It was chill, a good vibe, good music, and the corner snack bar was appropriate. They got 4 stars because they don't accept US dollars for whatever reason, so you are subjected to trying to get COP from random patrons, no bueno. They did have a variety of games to fit whichever preference, though. I took no photos
I have visited this casino a few times on different visits to Cartagena. The first couple of times I did okay and left up after playing the slots and table games. This visit I noticed a lot of new slots from my last visits and they do not seem to pay out very well. I went 3 times this visit and left down every time and did not see any other customers winning. Tables were empty of customers every time I went on this visit and I did not play table games on this trip. I wonder why nobody was playing. Makes me a little suspicious
Good casino we win here the most, good with table games They are renovating their resturant now and have limited drinks. Hopefully the resturant will back running fully soon- it was nice and affordable food
