Croc’s Resort & Casino Guide and Review

Nestled in the vibrant city of Jaco, Costa Rica, Croc’s Resort & Casino presents itself as a distinctive destination aiming to blend luxury resort amenities with the thrill of a casino. While its primary classification is a casino, guest experiences largely highlight its strengths as a resort. Based on recent guest feedback, Croc’s offers a mixed, yet generally positive, experience for travelers seeking a getaway in paradise.
👍 The High Points: Service, Cleanliness, and Comfort
A recurring theme among highly satisfied guests is the resort's commitment to exceptional customer service. Staff members, from the bell persons and receptionists to those in restaurants and housekeeping, are consistently praised for being warm, welcoming, efficient, friendly, and going out of their way to make guests feel at home. This attentiveness significantly contributes to a pleasant stay.
The resort also stands out for its immaculate condition and serene environment. Guests describe the entire hotel as spotless, quiet, and in fantastic shape. Rooms are noted to be spacious, impeccably clean, and fresh-smelling, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay. This dedication to cleanliness and maintenance creates a truly inviting atmosphere.
Croc’s Resort & Casino appears to cater well to diverse groups, being described as a perfect place for both friends and families. The tranquil atmosphere is appreciated, and families with children (e.g., ages 9 and 11) found the resort to be highly suitable. Furthermore, amenities like an amazing complimentary breakfast and convenient airport shuttle services (pickup and drop-off) add significant value to the guest experience. The property's location also offers access to many activities, including ziplining, ATVs, surfing, and horseback riding, with the beach being clean and walkable to other restaurant options in town.
👎 Areas for Improvement: Policies, Dining, and Pricing
Despite its many positives, Croc's Resort & Casino faces criticism in a few key areas that potential visitors should be aware of:
🚫 Restrictive Guest Policy
A significant point of contention for some groups is the resort's "no guest policy". This policy is described as "absolutely ridiculous," with reports of photographers not being allowed into rooms for wedding preparations unless an extra $50 guest fee is paid, and even then, only at certain times. Guests traveling in larger groups also faced issues adding extra persons to reservations, being charged a daily guest fee instead, highlighting a lack of flexibility.
🍽️ Inconsistent Dining Experience & High Drink Prices
While some reviews mention "great food at the restaurants," one guest reported an "awful" food experience in the main restaurant, with meals being sent back and no resolution from the hotel. This suggests inconsistency in dining quality. Additionally, drink prices are noted as "outrageous," with examples like $9 for a can of local beer and $23 for a whiskey. Guests are advised to consider bringing their own beverages.
🧹 In-Room Amenities Deficiencies
Certain basic in-room amenities seem to be lacking or poorly managed. Guests reported no cups, no bottle opener, and difficulty obtaining a knife for simple tasks like cutting fruit. Furthermore, body wash and shampoo were reportedly not replenished routinely during a week-long stay, requiring guests to repeatedly ask for supplies and then receiving only a single small tube.
🎲 The Casino Experience
It is noteworthy that despite being classified as a "casino," the provided guest reviews offer very limited specific feedback regarding the casino floor, gaming options, or atmosphere. Most comments revolve around the hotel, its services, and the overall resort experience. Prospective visitors primarily interested in the casino aspect may need to seek out more detailed information from other sources.
💡 Final Thoughts
Croc’s Resort & Casino generally provides a clean, comfortable, and well-serviced resort experience, particularly for those seeking a relaxing stay with friendly staff and family-friendly amenities. The airport shuttle and complimentary breakfast are definite perks. However, visitors should be prepared for potentially strict guest policies, variable dining quality in the main restaurant, and high beverage prices. If your primary interest lies in the resort features and a good location with access to activities, Croc's could be a strong contender. Those seeking an in-depth casino experience might find less detailed information available from recent guest reviews, and should temper expectations regarding the strict guest policies and potential in-room amenity issues.

It’s the perfect place for both friends and families peaceful, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. I truly appreciated the relaxing atmosphere and attention to detail in every aspect of my stay.I can confidently say I’ll be coming back again. Highly recommended!
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Crocs Resort Casino, April 7-11, 2025. They offer airport shuttle services, p/u and dropoff. Tana provided excellent customer service helping me with my booking. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The hotel was well kept and the rooms were spacious, really clean, and smell fresh. The complimentary breakfast was amazing! I would defintely recommend this resort for your vacation stay.
There is a no guest policy that is absolutely ridiculous. We traveled in a big group for a wedding and they hotel did not let the photographer, who did not stay in the hotel, get up to our rooms to take pictures of our group who was there for a wedding. Or you have to pay an extra $50 for a guest but that's only allowed at certain times. We were a group of 16 and we had one more person coming than originally booked. They did not let us add that person to the reservation and charged a guest fee every day.Additionally we asked the front desk if we can get a knife so we can cut some fruit we had in our room and were told that's not possible. There are also no cups or a bottle opener in the room.Body wash and shampoo was not replenished within the one week we stayed. We had to ask for every time we needed some and then they gave us ONE tube.
The rooms were fine, clean and nicely kept. Two major downsides:1) The food in the main restaurant was awful. Out of a party of eight, 3 of us sent our meals back. The new meals were no better, and none of us ate the meal. One member of our party said it was the worst meal he has ever had. We complained to no avail. The hotel did NOTHING. I complained to the waiter that night, and to the front desk the next day2) Drink prices were, in a word, outrageous. $9 for a can of local beer. $23 for a whisky. Please feel free to bring your own stuff.
The property is wonderful, clean, and has great food at the restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had access to many activities including ziplining, atvs, surfing, and horseback riding. We came as a family, kids aged 9 and 11, the resort worked great for us. We also walked the beach all the way down into town and the beach was clean and the people friendly with lots of other restaurant options as well.
