Casino Cezar, located in Zagreb, Croatia, presents a rather mixed bag for potential patrons. While it offers a consistent draw for poker enthusiasts, several aspects of the casino, particularly its atmosphere and management practices, warrant careful consideration before a visit.
For those interested in poker, Casino Cezar appears to be a reliable spot. User reviews highlight the consistent availability of cash games every night, typically from 9 PM onwards until 5 AM. Players have reported finding €1/2 Texas Hold'em games regularly, and even a "great €1/2 euro game with double board PLO every orbit," suggesting a decent variety for poker players. The presence of these active cash games is a significant plus for the local poker scene.
Additionally, some visitors have noted that the female dealers at table games are super nice and friendly, contributing positively to the gaming experience, at least at the individual table level. The clientele is described as mostly local but diverse, generally comprising "good, nice, trustworthy Croatians."
This is where Casino Cezar faces significant criticism:
Perhaps the most prominent and consistent complaint is the extreme smoke permeating the entire casino. Several users reported that people smoke freely at the playing tables and throughout the room, to the extent that eyes start to hurt within 30 minutes. One visitor even stated they "had to get out to get oxygen" after just 10 minutes, indicating that even "non-smoke rooms" offer little reprieve. This is a major detractor for non-smokers or those sensitive to smoke.
A highly concerning aspect is the alleged behavior of the management, particularly concerning successful players. One detailed account describes how, after making profits on blackjack, the casino reportedly put restrictions on play for "smart players" and even "forced out" guests by changing game rules. This suggests a potentially hostile environment for skilled players.
Furthermore, the cash-out process can be intentionally frustrating. While one withdrawal was smooth, another instance saw a manager intervene to force the cashier to pay out a significant winning sum (€5000) in unacceptable €20 notes, apparently to annoy the customer. When confronted, the manager's response was a rude and dismissive, "take your money and go... I don't care, just take your money and go." This indicates a severe lack of customer service and professionalism from certain staff members.
The initial impression for some is that the place is "slightly rugged" or "super shady." While there are a few table games and slots, the focus seems to be heavily on poker cash games, implying a more limited variety compared to larger, more modern casinos.
Casino Cezar in Zagreb appears to be a destination primarily for dedicated poker players seeking regular cash games. The consistent availability of €1/2 Hold'em and PLO seems to be its strongest suit. However, potential visitors must be prepared for a very smoky environment and the possibility of encountering unprofessional or even hostile management practices, especially if playing skillfully at table games like blackjack. If a clean, smoke-free environment, transparent rules, and consistently friendly service are high priorities, other options in Zagreb might be more suitable. For those willing to overlook these significant drawbacks for a steady poker game, it might be worth a visit.
Interesting place, people can smoke at the playing tables and in the entire room, it's so bad, your eyes start to hurt after 30min.We played blackjack and made some great profit on the first day, eventhough the place is super shady, the female dealers were super nice and friendly. When we went to cash out on day1 it went smoothly and no issues (thats why I did not give a 1-star)Day 2 we came in and they put some restrictions on our play because they do not like smart players with blackjack, after a few more hours they even 'forced us out' by changing the rules of the game. When we went to cash out (profit again)They paid us our winnings in €20 notes... unacceptable... the nice lady behind the cashier wanted to give us big bills but then a manager came in and stopped her and he made her pay us €5000 in €20 notes.... (to annoy us probably)So I asked why this was and explained that this was not ideal and then the manager said 'take your money and go... I dont care, just take your money and go'If you want a fun and friendly time, I'd stay away!Thank you for the profits though!🫡
Very smokey casino, even in the non-smoke rooms. Only stayed for 10 min. Had to get out to get oxygene.
First impression is slightly rugged. However, alright regular cash game 1/2 Texas holdem mostly, every day 9pm onwards till 5 am. A few table games and slots. Service is decent and the clientele is local but diverse (like most casinos), so an interesting bunch of good nice trustworthy Croatians in general. Will definitely visit again when in town again.
