Grand Pasha Hotel & Casino

Located in North Nicosia (Lefkoşa), Cyprus, the Grand Pasha Hotel & Casino positions itself as a destination for leisure and gaming. However, recent guest experiences paint a picture of significant inconsistencies, particularly within its primary offering: the casino. Prospective visitors should approach with tempered expectations, especially if their main draw is the gaming floor or expect consistently high service standards.

The Casino Experience: A Disappointing Gamble 🎲

For a venue whose primary identity is a casino, the feedback from patrons is overwhelmingly negative, describing an "awful experience." Key areas of concern include:

  • Gaming Fairness: Guests have expressed strong dissatisfaction, feeling that the machines are "set in a way that you cannot win more than 200 TL," leading to rapid losses.
  • Cleanliness and Atmosphere: The casino environment is frequently criticized for being "smokey and dirty," with patrons specifically mentioning "disgustingly dirty" chairs and gaming machines.
  • Staffing and Service: There's a reported lack of staff available to assist, making it challenging to get help. Furthermore, the provision of drinks is problematic; the restaurant is often empty, and requested beverages are frequently unavailable.
  • Overall Sentiment: The general consensus from several reviews advises potential visitors to "stay away from Grand Pasha casino" if a genuinely enjoyable gaming experience is desired.

Hotel Accommodations & Amenities ✨

The hotel side of Grand Pasha receives a more varied assessment, revealing both positive aspects and areas needing improvement:

  • Room and Spa Quality: Some guests found the hotel rooms and spa facilities to be "very beautiful and clean." The overall amenities are also noted as "quite nice."
  • Facility Age: Despite some positive comments on cleanliness and amenities, many highlight that the hotel's "facilities are very old," specifically citing issues with showers, televisions, and lighting.
  • General Cleanliness: While broadly considered "relatively clean," there are mentions that some areas appear "forgotten" in terms of upkeep.

Dining and Refreshments 🍽️

The food and beverage service at Grand Pasha exhibits similar inconsistencies:

  • Breakfast: The buffet breakfast is typically Turkish in style. While it offers "a few decent options" and ample bread, it can become "kinda repetitive" for guests on longer stays. One specific observation noted concerns about guests "fondling the bread."
  • Restaurant and Bar Service: Beyond breakfast, the main restaurant is often described as empty. The availability of drinks, particularly in the casino area, is a recurring complaint, with many items being unavailable.

Customer Service: A Hit or Miss Affair 🤷‍♀️

Perhaps the most polarizing aspect of Grand Pasha is its customer service, which ranges from highly praised to severely criticized:

  • Positive Interactions: The staff at the pool restaurant, in particular, received commendation for providing "amazing" and "excellent service," with one specific individual being noted for strong English language skills. Generally, some staff members were described as "very kind and nice."
  • Negative Interactions: On the other hand, many guests reported "non existent" customer service, feeling "ignored" when attempting to order food or drinks. Reception staff have been singled out for being "very rude" and having an unwelcoming demeanor. Spa staff were also criticized for unprofessionalism, including being distracted by telephones and conversing in Turkish in front of guests, causing discomfort. There's a general feeling that basic "manners" and "a smile" are often missing from staff interactions.
  • Language Barrier: It's also noted that not all service staff are proficient in English, which can hinder communication for international guests.

Location and Value 📍

The hotel's location garners mixed opinions. While one review praises it as a "perfect location," another points out that it's "not really close to anything," implying a reliance on taxis for getting around. From a value perspective, considering the array of issues reported, at least one guest explicitly stated, "For the money you pay I Do not recommend this place at all."

Overall Recommendation: Proceed with Caution

The Grand Pasha Hotel & Casino appears to be a property facing challenges in maintaining consistent standards across its operations. While elements like hotel rooms and spa facilities are appreciated by some, the significant negative feedback concerning the casino's cleanliness, perceived fairness, and particularly the highly inconsistent customer service, suggest a stay here comes with considerable caveats. If a top-tier casino experience or seamless service is a priority, potential visitors may wish to explore other options in North Nicosia. For a general hotel stay, be prepared for facilities that show their age and potentially frustrating service encounters.

Awful experience! We, a group of six, went to Grand Pasha Casino and ended up losing all our money in 10 minutes. The machines are set in a way that you cannot win more 200 tl. Chairs are disgustingly dirty, the gaming machines are also dirty, they do not have enough staff to help. The restaurant is empty all the time and whatever drink you ask for they do not have! It was our first and last experience. If you want to go to a casino to enjoy your time, I’d say stay away from Grand pasha casino.

Not too bad, but let's just say we all have stayed at better places before. Facilities are very old, shower/tv/lights... But the amenities are quite nice actually. Relatively clean, but still you can see here and there is being forgotten. Not all service staff can speak English, but everyone is very kind and nice. Breakfast is pretty okay, Turkish style only though, and kinda repetitive if you stay here several days in a row. Not really close to anything, so it's better to take taxi when move around. Overall acceptable experience!

My wife and I spent 2 nights here for our very first visit to Cyprus and basically the Customer Service was non existent, if you want to get a drink or food be prepared to be ignored.Don't expect manners, or a smile from the staff. The Casino is smokey and dirty. The Buffet breakfast is typically Turkish and had a few decent options with lots of bread, but beware of everyone fondling the bread. For the money you pay I Do not recommend this place at all.
