Located just a short drive from the Nicosia border, the Grand Pasha Nicosia Hotel & Casino & Spa positions itself as a prime destination for entertainment and relaxation in North Nicosia, Cyprus. However, user reviews paint a significantly varied picture, with strong opinions on both its casino offerings and hotel amenities.
For a venue where the primary type is a casino, the feedback regarding its gambling facilities is largely negative. Visitors have expressed considerable disappointment with the payout rates on slot machines, with one user stating, "the rest of the machines don't pay out" and that "clover link payouts are disgusting."
Minimum bet requirements also appear to be a point of contention:
The general sentiment among casino visitors is that the establishment is not conducive to a satisfying gambling experience, with one user concluding, "Never ever I will visit a Grand Pasha hotel again" after playing 150 Euros across six machines without a single significant bonus or payout.
The hotel aspect of Grand Pasha receives a starkly divided response, ranging from "worst hotel I stayed" to "enjoyed our stay immensely."
Several guests have criticized the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms. Complaints include:
Service quality is another area of significant discrepancy. One review praises the "impeccable" hotel service and how guests were "treated in an excellent manner at all times." Conversely, others report "horrible" service, particularly in the restaurant, and a perceived strategy by staff to "upsell everything," from ironing services to day tours, rather than simply assisting guests.
A recurring and significant issue highlighted by multiple reviewers is the pervasive cigarette smoke throughout the entire venue. Despite booking "non-smoking" rooms, guests found smoke inescapable, with ashtrays on every floor near lifts and groups smoking in unexpected areas like near the pool.
This has led to severe discomfort for non-smoking guests, some of whom had to switch rooms or even leave the hotel entirely due to medical reasons or simply the overwhelming odor. While the hotel reportedly offered "great service" in accommodating a room change or hotel departure due to smoke, the core problem remains a major deterrent for non-smokers.
One positive note mentioned was the pool, described as "wonderful and warm," contributing to a "relaxing environment." Beyond this, detailed reviews on spa facilities were not extensively provided, though the overall impression suggests that the hotel's focus remains heavily on the casino.
The hotel is frequently described as "way overpriced" given the perceived age of its furnishings and cleanliness issues. The sentiment is that the hotel serves more as an "afterthought to squeeze a few more euros out of losing gamblers or a hapless tourist," rather than a well-maintained, value-driven accommodation.
The Grand Pasha Nicosia Hotel & Casino & Spa appears to cater primarily to gamblers, and even then, the casino's operational practices (high minimum bets, poor payouts) are a significant point of dissatisfaction. For non-gamblers, especially those sensitive to smoke or expecting modern amenities and high standards of cleanliness, the hotel presents considerable drawbacks. While some isolated positive experiences with service and the pool exist, the overwhelming consensus points towards a need for significant improvement in room quality, cleanliness, and a review of casino policies and overall environmental standards.
Nice Hotel just 5 minutes after Nicosia borders I went there to visit their casino for the first time and I have been to many. But,they have bell links with minimun bet 25 Turkish lira, other casinos have minimum bet on same machine 10 TRY.The rest of the machines dont pay out.I was very disappointed by the payout of 6 different slot machines.I am not expecting to make money from a casino but I am not expecting wither to play 150euro and not even hit one good bonus figure or payout in 6 slot machines.Especially the clover link payouts are disgusting.Further more they advertise 1Euro min bet on some roulettes, but the roulette table manager told me that I have to play minimum 5 chips of 5 EUR.You are not anywhere near to twll me how to play or how much to invest.I can play 1 chip on every single round if I want but couldnt bother to argue with their attitude. As soon as I profited 25Euros I left.Never ever I will visit a grand Pasha hotel again.
It is the worst hotel I stayed, the carpets are so dirty, seems they were never cleaned. Cigarette smoke is everywhere, doesn’t matter if your room is non-smoking. The service is horrible, particularly on their restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you like gambling
To be told, a non-smoking room. Due to medical reasons.2nd night we moved room as smoking in whole venue. Ashtray on every floor nearby lifts... Even groups smoking, where you swim? Wth. Great for fitness. Stroke. Puff...Need to stop smoking in venues and understand cultural differences, but get with the times. We had to leave and change hotels which they were very lovely about..That was great service 👏But the fact that smoke permeates throughout the whole venue really hinders the experience. Especially for the price per night? If you smoke enjoy. If not. Avoid.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel immensely. The hotel service was impeccable - we were treated in an excellent manner at all times. The pool was wonderful and warm, and the environment was relaxing. It was a very pleasant place to stay in Nicosia.
Way overpriced. The hotel is stuck in 1970s as far as furnishings are concerned. Outdated and broken fixtures. Staff is trained to upsell everything. You ask for an iron, they want you to use the hotel’s ironing service. You ask for directions to somewhere from the front desk, they will try to sell you a day tour. Casino is their real business and hotel is an afterthought to squeeze a few more euros out of loosing gamblers or a hapless tourist who somehow ends up as a guest.
