Kviar Hamaca Casino

Located in the vibrant city of Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic, Kviar Hamaca Casino has a mixed history of guest experiences, with recent reports indicating it may no longer be operational or is undergoing significant changes.

Current Status: Closed/Under Construction 🚧

As of recent observations (6 months ago), Kviar Hamaca Casino appears to be closed and under construction, or has been for a considerable time. Prospective visitors should verify its operational status before planning a visit.

Past Guest Experiences: A Tale of Two Halves

The Positives (Historically) ✨

In its operational days, Kviar Hamaca Casino garnered some praise from patrons who enjoyed its entertainment offerings and service quality.

  1. Vibrant Atmosphere: Guests reported a good selection of drinks, cocktails, and beers, coupled with enjoyable music that was suitable for dancing.
  2. Live Entertainment: The casino sometimes featured live performances, adding to the entertainment value.
  3. Attentive Service: At its best, the staff was described as very nice and attentive, even going the extra mile to assist guests (e.g., charging a phone).

The Negatives: A Pattern of Concern 😠

However, the overwhelmingly negative sentiment among several reviewers highlighted significant issues, primarily revolving around financial discrepancies and staff conduct.

  1. Consistent Short-Changing: Multiple visitors reported being short-changed at the cashier or on the gaming floor. Incidents varied from minor discrepancies (e.g., 24 pesos) to substantial losses (e.g., $400-$500). πŸ’Έ
  2. Unresponsive and Rude Staff: When challenged about short-changing, staff members, including managers, were described as dismissive, blaming the customer, or displaying sarcastic attitudes. Claims of checking cameras reportedly did not lead to resolution for the customer.
  3. Harassment: One review also mentioned the presence of individuals (described as "hookers") bothering guests at the casino, which detracted from the experience.

Conclusion πŸ’

Based on past reviews, Kviar Hamaca Casino offered a lively atmosphere and good service for some, but was plagued by serious and recurring issues of short-changing and poor customer service when disputes arose. The most recent information suggests the establishment is currently closed or undergoing renovation. Potential visitors are strongly advised to confirm the casino's current status and operational hours before considering a visit to Juan Dolio.

I had a great time there! They have a nice selection of drinks, cocktails and beers, the music was good for dancing, and then we saw a live performance. The service on point, very nice people. They even took care of my phone which was running out of battery. Lol!

Short changed me. When I went to the cashier my 2 vouchers totaled 1,524.75 pesos. The machine says they don't pay cents, so that's fine then 1,524 - so the woman pays me 1,500, when i asked about the 24 she gave me a 10 peso coin. At this point I'm thinking is she just f$&king stupid or what? ... but I remained polite and showed her on my phones calculator. She took another 10 peso coin and threw it on the counter and sarcastically said 'oh mucho dinero'. Since I was leaving anyway I should have told her what a f-&eking b!tch she was: too bad I didn't. Still walked away short changed. At least I walked away with 1020 pesos of their money! I should have quit when I was 5,000 ahead, and would of had I know the attitude of the staff there. It seems like everyone tries to short change you here (like at the airport when you exchange money and they are suppose to give you 4,085 pesos but try to only give you 4,000).Also there are a lot of hookers at the casino to bother you; it all sounds fun, right?
