Casino Hotel las Caobas Guide and Review

3.9
76 reviews
Casino Hotel las Caobas

Located in the vibrant city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic, Casino Hotel las Caobas presents itself as a combined casino and hotel establishment. Based on user feedback from several years ago, the guest experience at this venue appears to be quite varied.

Overall Impressions: A Blend of Leisure and Lively Nights 🤔

The hotel is described by some visitors as a "perfect get away" with aspects like friendly staff and a calm atmosphere during the day. However, it also faces significant criticisms concerning nighttime disturbances and operational issues, particularly those stemming from the casino and an adjacent nightclub.

What We Liked 👍

  • Friendly Staff: Several reviewers consistently highlighted the very friendly and accommodating demeanor of the hotel staff.
  • Daytime Tranquility: The hotel is noted for being a quiet place during the day, offering a peaceful environment before the evening activities pick up.
  • Pool & Jacuzzi Access: The property features a pool and jacuzzi, which are accessible not only to hotel guests but also to non-guests for an admission fee of $4 per person. This provides a recreational option for those looking to relax by the water.
  • Full-Service Bar: A convenient full-service bar is available, especially beneficial for those utilizing the pool area.
  • Positive, Concise Feedback: Some guests simply offered brief but highly positive remarks, describing the hotel as "very good" or a "perfect get away."

Areas for Improvement & Things to Consider ⚠️

  • Significant Nighttime Noise: A prominent concern raised by guests is the considerable noise levels experienced at night. Rooms located above the parking area towards the casino or adjacent to the nightclub are particularly affected by loud disturbances.
  • Disorder and Fights: One highly critical review explicitly mentioned "disorder in the casino" and "fights in the nightclub on the next side," with one incident occurring as early as 4:50 AM, severely disrupting sleep.
  • Payment Invoice Issues: A frustrating incident was reported involving a "mess with the payment invoice," attributed to a "system problem," which led to a significant delay (nearly half a day) in resolving the billing discrepancy.
  • Varying Crowd Size: For those planning to use the pool or communal areas, it's worth noting that the size of the crowd can fluctuate significantly depending on the day and time of the week.
  • Limited Hotel Stay Reviews: It's important to consider that at least one detailed review focusing on the pool experience explicitly stated the reviewer did not stay overnight at the hotel, thus their full assessment was limited to the amenities they utilized.

Conclusion: Know Before You Go 🧐

Casino Hotel las Caobas appears to offer a somewhat contradictory experience. While it may provide a pleasant setting for daytime relaxation, supported by friendly service and accessible leisure facilities like the pool, prospective guests should be well aware of the potential for significant noise and disturbances during the night. This is particularly true if your room is situated near the casino or the adjacent nightclub. Reports of operational inefficiencies, such as billing problems, also suggest areas where improvements could be made. For visitors prioritizing a quiet night's sleep, careful consideration of room location is advised. For those seeking a lively atmosphere and casino entertainment, managing expectations regarding potential late-night disorder might be beneficial.

The only reason I'm even rating this post with any stars and only 3, is that In all honesty, I did not stay at this establishment. A group of us simply went to enjoy the day at the hotels pool and jacuzzi. The hotel charges none guests $4 admission per person and has a full service bar. Depending on the day and time of the week you go, will determine the size of the crowd.

Very bad. The disorder in the casino and the fights in the nightclub on the next side do not let anyone rest who wakes up on that side. During my day a fight broke out at 4:50 a.m. m and after that don't close your eyes. Then there was a mess with the payment invoice which showed a difference, due to a system problem. It gave me almost half a day and it was not resolved. Whoever is sending them a message should draw their conclusions.
