Casino Mirage Guide and Review

Casino Mirage, located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, primarily functions as a casino. Based on recent patron experiences, this establishment presents a mixed, often problematic, picture. While some aspects might appeal to certain visitors, significant concerns regarding honesty, cleanliness, and operational standards have been frequently raised.
The Good β¨
A few visitors have noted some positive aspects, although these are often overshadowed by more prevalent complaints:
- Some guests found the staff and fellow clients to be kind and welcoming during their visit.
- For those primarily interested in slot machines, one reviewer felt it offered a space to "relac your self" behind the machines, suggesting a level of comfort for individual play.
Areas of Significant Concern β οΈ
The majority of reviews highlight critical issues that potential visitors should be aware of:
- Allegations of Dishonesty and Scamming: This is arguably the most severe and recurring complaint. Multiple reviews describe incidents where the casino or other patrons, allegedly with security's complicity, attempted to defraud players regarding money owed after cashing out. One reviewer explicitly labels the place as run by "thieves" who "lied about money owed" on multiple occasions, going as far as to suggest it "should be shut down." Another reported a distressing incident where, after cashing out, another customer tried to claim the money, and security reportedly sided with the accuser, attempting to compel the reviewer to give them money.
- Poor Management and Service: Patrons have described the management as a "joke" and the overall service as "terrible." Reports include staff "standing around doing nothing," indicating a potential lack of attentiveness and professionalism.
- Cleanliness Issues: One direct complaint emphatically states the place is "filthy." This suggests a potential lack of proper maintenance and hygiene, which can significantly detract from the overall casino experience.
- Smoke Management: Despite designated non-smoking areas, the pervasive smell of cigars from smoking sections reportedly permeates the entire establishment, making it uncomfortable for non-smokers and causing significant discomfort.
- Language Barrier: Non-Spanish speakers have reported significant difficulties. One review explicitly warns, "Do not go here if you donβt speak fluent Spanish," implying that a language barrier could exacerbate other problems, particularly during disputes.
Important Considerations Before Visiting
Given the nature of the complaints, especially those related to financial integrity and security, visitors are strongly advised to:
- Exercise Extreme Caution: Be highly vigilant about any financial transactions or interactions related to winnings and payouts. Document your play if possible.
- Be Prepared for Language Issues: If you do not speak fluent Spanish, be aware that communication challenges might arise, potentially complicating any disputes or requests for assistance.
- Manage Expectations: Do not expect a high standard of cleanliness or service based on current reviews.
Conclusion βοΈ
Casino Mirage in Santo Domingo appears to be an establishment with significant operational and ethical concerns, particularly regarding financial practices and customer service. While there are isolated positive remarks about the people, the recurring and serious allegations of dishonesty, coupled with cleanliness and service issues, paint a largely negative picture. Potential visitors should weigh these factors carefully and consider alternative options if a secure, fair, and clean gaming environment is a priority.
Do not go here if you donβt speak fluent Spanish. The first machine I played another customer tried to say I owed him money after I cashed out. When I disagreed security got involved and tried to get me to give him the money.. unbelievable. Complete scam.
It was ok, the people are so kind i mean clients and workers, the only thing I didn't like in the no smoking area you can smell the cigars from the smoking area and that was killing me yuck!
The place is filthy and the service is terrible. People stand around doing nothing the management is a joke
Stay away from here. They are thieves. On 2 accounts they lied about money owed. I have never seen the lies and stealing from a casino in my life. I have been in the D.R for 13yrs and this place should be shut down.
