Nestled within the Casino Joa in Marseille, the Restaurant Gastronomique offers a dining experience that often comes with a spectacular backdrop. As a restaurant located within a casino, it combines the excitement of the gaming floor with the potential for a memorable meal, though experiences can vary.
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Restaurant Gastronomique Casino Joa is its magnificent setting and panoramic views. Diners frequently highlight the beautiful harbor view, which provides a delightful backdrop for any meal. The overall atmosphere is generally described as pleasant and welcoming, contributing significantly to the dining experience.
Service at the restaurant receives mixed but predominantly positive feedback. Many visitors have reported quick, efficient, and pleasant service, with staff being described as welcoming and friendly. Dishes are often well-presented, complemented by good service quality. However, one older review did mention instances of rude staff, indicating potential inconsistencies, though more recent reviews tend to contradict this.
The food quality is where opinions diverge the most, suggesting a varied experience for patrons:
Diners should note the restaurant's opening times. It reportedly opens precisely at 7:30 p.m., with no possibility to have a drink before, which some visitors found inconvenient. For those dining with children, one reviewer mentioned a minor downside: the lack of a changing table in the restrooms, though an elevator is available to access different floors.
Restaurant Gastronomique Casino Joa presents a compelling option for those seeking a meal with a stunning view in Marseille. While the service and setting are often highly commendable, the culinary experience can be a mixed bag, ranging from excellent and satisfying to average or disappointing depending on the dish and individual expectations. It's a place where the atmosphere and service frequently shine, but the food's consistency and value might be points to consider when making a reservation.
This is the third time! My mother likes the view.Staff are so rude. Nice place. Food is tipical French, frozen and pretend meat. I named this plate, polpettes du viel brûlé
Nice restaurant 🌞Opening at 7:30 p.m. but not before so don't go too early because there's not even the possibility of having a drink before (too bad! 🥲)Simple and good dishes, perhaps lack of choice?!Fast and pleasant service.
We had reservations for 5 adults and a child and we were all delighted by the setting, the speed of service, the presentation of the dishes and their flavor. We had a table with a magnificent view of the harbor. The service was quick and very efficient from starter to dessert. The dishes were really excellent and we enjoyed ourselves at an affordable price. The quantities were very correct and we left satisfied.Only small downside: I didn't find a changing table in the toilets (on a different floor but with an elevator so not a big deal) to change my son.
I appreciated the atmosphere, the welcome, and the well presented dishes with a very good quality of service....
Average result and value for money, pleasant setting with panoramic view (which does not justify the bill, a big problem common in all Mediterranean seaside restaurants) friendly welcome and service, very good starter and dessert but a little minimalist, dish (stuffed vegetables) disappointing.
