The Crown Casino Hotel Soloy, located in the picturesque Playa Bonita, Panama, serves primarily as a casino destination, also offering hotel accommodations for its guests. Reviews from recent and past visitors paint a varied picture, highlighting both commendable aspects and significant areas for improvement, particularly concerning its casino operations and hotel facilities.
For many, the primary draw is undoubtedly the casino. One reviewer found it "Real convenient to have fun," suggesting that its location and offerings provide an accessible entertainment option. The service at the cashier's desk has been specifically praised, with one guest noting "the cashiers provided excellent service."
However, the casino experience isn't without its criticisms. A significant concern raised is the policy of charging a 5.5% tax on every ticket cashed in, which one user described as not being "honest" with customers. Another notable point of contention revolves around complimentary services, with a reviewer expressing disappointment at not being offered even "a cup of coffee" during a four-hour stay, contrasting this with other Crown establishments where such courtesies are provided.
Beyond the gaming floor, the hotel aspect of Crown Casino Hotel Soloy receives a more mixed to critical assessment, with calls for comprehensive upgrades. While some found the rooms to be "ok, not bad," there are consistent remarks about the property feeling dated and lacking in modern amenities and service.
Visitors have pointed out several areas needing attention:
Despite these points, the hotel's proximity to a "local shopping area" was seen as a positive by one guest.
The Crown Casino Hotel Soloy in Playa Bonita appears to be a destination with potential, particularly for those seeking a convenient casino experience. The positive remarks about cashier service and general convenience are encouraging. However, the recurring themes of outdated facilities, less-than-attentive hotel staff, and specific casino policies (like the cash-out tax and lack of complimentary refreshments) suggest that the establishment could significantly enhance its guest experience with strategic improvements.
For visitors prioritizing a no-frills casino experience and proximity to local shops, the Crown Casino Hotel Soloy might suffice. However, those seeking a modern, full-service hotel experience with comprehensive amenities and high levels of customer service might find it falls short of expectations.
They aren't honest with you and you have to pay 5 1/2 % tax on every ticket you cash in
First time in Panama stayed at this Hotel and it needs it all upgrades and better staff. The staff not very attentive to customers needs. Elevators old and not very clean. Rooms are ok not bad but there was no iron, ironing table nor blower had to asked for it when it should be in the room. No ice machine avaliable for ice pick up at any time. Breakfast ok not bad. The place most definitely needs a face lift. Closed to local shopping area. No laundry avaliable at hotel not good.
Well... the cashiers provided excellent service, but in four hours they didn't even offer me a cup of coffee. Remember, customers are looking for intangible things. Let's see if they win... and to do that, they spend something tangible. The last thing they want out of their pocket is a cup of coffee... that's the Crown's strength. At the Panama Hotel, they provide coffee, and good coffee.
