Located in the vibrant city of Cebu, Philippines, the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino presents itself as a prestigious establishment offering a blend of luxury and entertainment. However, user experiences reveal a dichotomy, highlighting both commendable aspects and significant areas for improvement.
Upon arrival, guests are often greeted by a grand and spacious lobby, featuring natural lighting and impressive decor, including a notable giant world map on the ceiling and beautiful artwork. This initial impression sets a tone of elegance and class. A consistent highlight across positive reviews is the exceptionally accommodating and excellent staff service. Employees are lauded for going above and beyond, prioritizing guests' needs, and ensuring an unforgettable experience.
Beyond the aesthetics, the hotel boasts good restaurants within its premises, and a particular standout is the very well-equipped gym, which receives high praise.
Despite its luxurious facade and dedicated staff, several guests have pointed out that the hotel appears to be in need of a proper renovation. Concerns regarding the dated nature of the rooms are common, with specific mentions of feeling every spring in the mattresses and malfunctioning amenities like sink drain plugs and dripping AC units. While showers are noted to be nice and hot, the overall impression for some is that rooms are merely "okay" rather than luxurious.
The hotel's location is generally considered decent, being close enough to major shopping centers like Ayala Center and Ayala Central Bloc. Guests can conveniently access these areas via Grab or taxi, though traffic in Cebu City can be unpredictable.
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino offers a mixed bag of experiences. Its exceptional staff and impressive lobby ambiance are undeniable strengths, creating a sense of being in a prestigious establishment. The gym and good restaurants also add to its appeal. However, the recurring issues with dated rooms, maintenance oversight, poor Wi-Fi, challenging parking, and unsatisfactory breakfast options temper the overall value, especially given its positioning as a higher-end hotel. While a "dream come true" for some, others may find it "not worth the price" due to the aforementioned deficiencies. Potential guests, especially those driving or attending large events, should be aware of these considerations.
Staying in Waterfront Hotel is a dream come true. I always wish to afford a hotel room in a prestigious hotel as Waterfront. Though our room was only complementary, the services offered by the staff are truly excellent. The ambience exudes elegance and class. Our overall experience in the hotel is unforgettable, thanks to the accommodating employees who always put our needs first, going above and beyond to extend help when needed. Thank you so much for your excellent service! 💯👏👏👏
Not worth the price!Well where to start?, if you don’t know where the parking is you have to drive around and look, cause there is no sign saying where you should drive to get to the garage, which is on the basement. The garage is huge but dark and dirty.-Checking in was good no problem, but they didn’t tell us that we had to place a deposit if we wanted to charge the room when ordering I.e. from the pool bar.- the whole hotel seems to be in need for a proper renovation , some pictures will tell you.- we went to the pool, and guess what? They have algae there, and some part of the pool was under “renovation “ you know when some lightbulbs are blown and no effort to change them you can tell that maintenance is not a priority here.- after the pool we heading for our room and shower. I was to use the sink to shave but the drain plug was not functioning so you could not drain the sink. The AC was also dripping water. So we called and the maintenance guy said he couldn’t fix without breaking the tiles, so better to transfer to a new room, which took forever to get cleared.- if you’re not a Filipino, the breakfast is a down too, no cold cut and the cheese was melted into a dough., no proper jam, they called it jam but is a compote. Also no muesli, just the kiddy chocolate cereals and corn flakes.Even my Filipino wife was disappointed by the Filipino breakfast options.Positive side is the great location and the gym, the gym is very good.
This is an amazing hotel. The lighting is natural and it doesn't hurt the eyes. The lobby is spacious and has a giant map of the world when you look at the ceiling. Lots of beautiful artwork hung up or displayed. It's worth visiting again sometime
If you are driving to Cebu this is not a good place to stay. If they are having events, which they often do, you may wait for hours to get to park and check in. The rooms are old but are ok. Showers are nice and hot but the beds you can feel every spring in the mattress.
The hotel lobby is grand with good restaurants, but the rooms quite dated with poor wifi speeds (2mbps or less). Location is decent as it’s close enough to take a grab/taxi to nearby malls (Ayala Center & Ayala Central Bloc) although your experience with traffic might vary.I attended the Playback Music Festival at the grand ballroom and the venue was way too hot with zero ventilation. The audience & artists were drenched in sweat and there was nothing but stale, hot air in the room for the event which lasted 5 hours. I fell extremely sick after this event possibly due to how packed the venue was and the lack of air & ventilation.
