Royal Casino Guide and Review

The Royal Casino in Sopot offers a distinct and often vibrant atmosphere for those seeking entertainment and a bit of thrill. Drawing from recent visitor feedback, it's a venue that tends to leave a memorable impression, blending classic casino elements with a lively social scene.
The Positive Aspects ✨
- Lively and Engaging Atmosphere: Many visitors consistently praise the casino's bustling and energetic environment. Unlike some quieter gaming establishments, the Royal Casino is described as a place where people genuinely enjoy a night out, contributing to a more sociable and pleasant experience.
- Professional and Friendly Staff: The majority of reviews commend the staff for their kindness, helpfulness, and professionalism, even when guests communicate primarily in English. Table service, particularly at roulette tables, is highlighted as a thoughtful addition.
- Affordable and Varied Drink Selection: A pleasant surprise for many is the affordability of drinks, which are often reported to be more reasonably priced than beverages at many local bars. The casino also offers a good selection of drinks.
- Favorable Odds and Winning Potential: Patrons have noted that the casino provides "good odds" and a realistic "chance to win big," enhancing the excitement of the gaming experience.
- Designated Smoking Areas: For smokers, the presence of specific "smoking solution areas" inside is appreciated, although the effectiveness of their ventilation is a point of concern for non-smokers (see downsides).
Areas for Consideration and Improvement 💨
- Pervasive Smoke Smell: A significant drawback for non-smokers is the often strong and pervasive cigarette smell throughout the casino, despite the presence of separate smoking rooms, suggesting inadequate ventilation.
- Entrance Experience and ID Policy: One visitor reported a very negative first impression due to an "unfriendly" staff member at the entrance regarding ID verification. It's crucial for visitors to bring a valid, acceptable form of ID, as a driving license might not be sufficient for security checks. A more welcoming approach from entry staff is desired.
- Reception Overwhelm: The reception staff can sometimes appear overwhelmed, especially during peak periods when numerous new customers require registration. While overall service is efficient, this initial impression could be smoother.
- Potentially Confusing Layout: In line with typical casino design, the layout can be intentionally intricate, which might require some adjustment for first-time visitors trying to navigate the floor.
- Limited Live Table Games: While there are plenty of slot machines, the number of live table games, such as roulette (only two tables mentioned in one review) and blackjack, might be fewer than some players prefer.
Tips for Your Visit 📝
- Bring Proper Identification: To ensure a seamless entry, always carry a valid, acceptable form of photo ID (e.g., passport or national ID card), as a driving license may not be sufficient for their safety and registration requirements.
- Be Prepared for Smoke: If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, be aware that despite designated areas, the smell might be noticeable throughout the venue.
- Manage Expectations for Live Tables: If your primary interest is live table games, understand that the selection might be more limited compared to the abundance of slot machines.
In summary, the Royal Casino in Sopot stands out as a vibrant and engaging entertainment venue, particularly for those who enjoy a lively social atmosphere alongside their gaming pursuits. With its affordable drinks and generally positive staff interactions, it presents a solid option for a night out in Sopot, provided visitors are prepared for the smoky interior and potential initial registration hurdles.
Unfortunately, impossible to give more than one star because the guy at the entrance was the worst welcoming person ever.We only had the driving licence, I get it, not enough for the safety check, we would have come back if the guy was more friendly.
The Royal Casino on Chmielna Street in Gdańsk offers a lively and unique experience in the heart of the city by the Motlawa River. Located in the basement, it has the dark and immersive ambiance you’d expect from a casino, with plenty of machines but fewer tables—only two for roulette and a few for blackjack. The atmosphere stood out compared to other casinos in Poland. It was bustling with people enjoying a night out, rather than the quieter, more somber vibe dominated by gambling addicts. This made for a more pleasant and sociable experience. Table service at the roulette table was a nice touch, and drinks were surprisingly affordable—cheaper than many local bars. However, the casino isn’t without flaws. The layout is intentionally confusing, typical for casinos, but the real downside is the pervasive smell of cigarettes. Despite having separate smoking rooms, the ventilation is inadequate, which could bother non-smokers.The reception staff seemed overwhelmed, possibly due to the influx of new customers requiring registration, but overall, the service was efficient. I had decent luck during my visit, which always helps, and enjoyed a great beer while spending just under an hour there.Overall, Royal Casino is a good choice for a night out, especially if you prefer a lively atmosphere. Just be prepared for the smoke and dim lighting, and enjoy the affordable drinks and games.
Great place with lovely atmosphere. Good odds and brings you back even after a hard loss✊️
Great Atmosphere and Experience. Kind, helpful and professional staff all around, despite me only speaking English. Fantastic drink selection and there are cool smoking solution areas inside! All the boxes checked.Even if it's your first time going here, there's always a chance to win big too
Spent every penny and could not afford taxi ride to airport.Still great experience and time though! Great drinks, friendly staff, nice amenities and services, and pretty good odds unless you've got a gambling problem like me.
