Casino Praia da Rocha, located in the vibrant city of Portimão, Portugal, offers a typical casino atmosphere with a range of gaming options. However, visitor experiences are notably varied, with some significant concerns raised regarding personal safety and service quality.
The casino is well-equipped with a multitude of slot machines, appealing to those who enjoy electronic gambling. Reviews indicate a minimum bet price around €5 for these machines. For those preferring traditional table games, options such as roulette and blackjack are available.
However, prospective visitors should be aware of potential issues with table game availability. One review highlighted significant frustration due to conflicting information about opening times for blackjack tables, leading to a wasted evening because of unannounced "staffing issues." This suggests that the full range of gaming options might not always be accessible as advertised.
It is crucial to note that passport or official identification is mandatory for entry to Casino Praia da Rocha. Visitors should ensure they have their ID readily available to avoid any delays or denial of entry.
This is an area where the casino receives highly polarized feedback, with serious implications for visitor trust and safety.
A particularly alarming review detailed a severe breach of privacy and subsequent harassment by a staff member. A young woman reported that an older male employee at the cash counter misused her passport information, which she provided to collect winnings, to locate and persistently message her on social media for months. This constitutes a profound invasion of privacy and a serious security concern. The reviewer explicitly warned other young women traveling alone to exercise extreme caution, highlighting the unacceptable nature of such conduct by casino employees with access to sensitive personal data.
Beyond the serious privacy breach, other visitors have noted broader staffing challenges impacting service. The casino's bar terrace, for example, received feedback about very slow service, attributed to staff shortages. While the food quality and prices at the bar were considered good, the extended wait times significantly detracted from the experience. Similarly, the aforementioned issues with table game availability were directly linked to "staffing issues," indicating a more systemic problem that affects the overall gaming experience.
For those looking for refreshments, the casino features a bar with a terrace. While the food served was generally well-received and prices considered reasonable, the service was consistently described as very slow due to apparent understaffing. This suggests that while dining options exist, patience may be required.
Casino Praia da Rocha offers a range of gambling opportunities, particularly for slot enthusiasts, and is located in a popular tourist area. The requirement for ID upon entry is standard for casinos in Portugal.
However, the extremely serious allegation of a staff member misusing personal identification for harassment is a paramount concern that overshadows any positive aspects. Coupled with reports of general staffing issues affecting service speed and table game availability, the casino presents a mixed and potentially risky experience. While some visitors have enjoyed their time, the profound safety and privacy implications raised by one account, along with operational inconveniences, warrant significant consideration.
Prospective visitors, especially those traveling alone, are advised to be highly vigilant regarding their personal information and interactions with staff. The casino needs to urgently address its employee conduct policies and staffing levels to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
I went to this casino a few months ago while on holiday in the Algarve, and honestly, it was one of the creepiest experiences I’ve ever had. One of the older men working behind the cash counter (where you go to collect your winnings) decided to save my passport information and later found me on social media. He’s been messaging me non-stop ever since, and it’s been months now. I’ve tried ignoring him but he keeps finding ways to stalk me online. He initially messaged me shortly after I left the casino, not long after I had handed him my passport to collect my winnings. It was clear he had used the personal information from my ID to look me up online, which felt like a huge invasion of privacy. As a young woman traveling alone, it’s extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate to be contacted like this by someone who had access to my personal details in a professional setting. It’s unacceptable that a staff member would misuse my sensitive information in this way. It’s scary and completely inappropriate. They seriously need to do better with who they hire—no one should have to deal with being harassed and stalked by an employee of a casino, especially someone who looks old enough to be your dad.If you’re a young woman thinking of going here, just be careful. I wouldn’t go back.
Avoid!!! Told tables open 7:30, so return after dinner to find Roulette table open, but Black tables open at 8:30. 8:30pm comes and they say sorry, “staffing” issues—we don’t know when we will be able to open. Waste of 4 hours.
If you like to have a bit of a gamble and have some fun then this is the place for you, all the usual that you expect from a casino including loads of slot machines, minimum price on the machines as far as I can tell seems to be €5 and if you did not know you need I.D. to enter, like your passport.
Estivemos na esplanada do bar do casino e o atendimento foi muito lento, vê-se que estão com problemas de pessoal, a comida estava boa, os preços são bons, mas o tempo de espera é muito grande.
