GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World Guide and Review

GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, nestled in Cape Town, South Africa, stands out as a sprawling complex offering far more than just a casino experience. It's described by visitors as an "absolutely perfect place for the whole family", bringing out the "inner child" in adults while providing "loads to do" for all ages. Whether you're seeking a night out with friends, a family outing, or a specific event, GrandWest proves to be a vibrant hub capable of providing hours of entertainment.
The Thrill of the Casino Floor π°
As its primary type suggests, the casino is a central attraction. Adults have access to a wide array of tables and slot machines, offering plenty of gaming excitement. While the thrill of the casino is evident, one reviewer humorously advises caution, reminding visitors that "you'll leave without money hahaha," highlighting the immersive nature of the gaming environment.
Beyond the Bets: A World of Fun for All Ages ππ³
GrandWest truly shines with its diverse entertainment offerings that cater to non-gamblers and families alike. Visitors frequently highlight the variety available:
Live Shows and Concerts π€
The venue is renowned for hosting a range of incredible music artists and performances. Reviewers consistently praise the "good music and sound levels" and "good seats all-round," making it a popular choice for concerts and shows. Many visitors return for future bookings, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the event experiences.
Family-Friendly Activities βΈοΈπΉοΈ
For those looking for active fun, GrandWest offers:
- Two ice rinks: both a kiddie and a full-size ice rink, perfect for beginners and experienced skaters.
- A "massive games arcade" equipped with a variety of games.
- Ten-pin bowling, which one reviewer loved so much they wished they could go "every week."
These attractions ensure that children and adults alike can find engaging activities beyond the casino floor.
Dining Experiences π£π
The complex boasts a "great selection of restaurants and fast food joints," providing numerous options for every palate and budget. From quick bites to more formal dining:
- One highly recommended spot is Cape Town Fish Market, where sushi was described as "so delicious" and definitely worth a return visit.
- However, it's worth noting a mixed experience at Quarterdeck, where a reviewer felt their meal was "rushed" due to limited sitting times, and the food was "mediocre for the price." This suggests that while variety is available, dining experiences can vary, and it might be advisable to choose restaurants carefully or book in advance for specific times.
Service, Security & Practicalities π€
Visitors frequently commend the operational aspects of GrandWest, especially during busy times. The security staff are consistently described as "kind, polite, and vigilant," effectively managing queues and maintaining clear communication regarding protocols. A significant bonus highlighted is the efficient parking and ticket system, with attendants ready to assist with pre-stamped tickets, making exits smoother. It's also a big plus that the "entrance is free" to the GrandWest complex itself, making it accessible for casual visits and allowing guests to choose their entertainment as they go.
Overall Verdict π
GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World truly lives up to its name as a comprehensive destination. While the casino offers excitement for adults, the vast array of entertainment options, from live shows and concerts to ice skating, bowling, and arcades, makes it an ideal spot for families and groups with diverse interests. Despite a minor caveat regarding a specific dining experience, the overwhelming sentiment points to GrandWest as a well-managed, secure, and highly entertaining complex that is a valuable addition to Cape Town's leisure landscape.

We had a variety of sushi and it was so delicious would definitely go there again.GrandWest was so packed as it seem all those people came to attend the concert.Even though their was a long queue to enter. The fact that the security was kind, polite and vigilant at all times. They also kept communication hope of there protocol in place.A bonus was that the park/ticket attendant was on point and ready to assist with a pre stamped ticket, which made things easier to exit. Thanks for a good service especially for ladies
We had an enjoyable evening out. Music and sound levels were good with good seats all-round. Thank you for hosting some incredible music artists that we grew up with.We have already booked for our next show in August.
Loads to do here for the entire family. The adults can play tables and slot machines, the is both a kiddie and full size ice rink, there is a massive games arcade with ten pin bowling. Of course there are numerous places you can eat from take away to restaurants. Can be here for a few hours of entertainment!
Quarterdeck was rushed due to our sitting being at 5pm, the other sitting was fully booked. It really is unpleasant rushing through courses & the staff literally told us to leave to clear the table. I would not recommend for a function as time is limited. The food is mediocre for the price. There are better quality restaurants in grandwest.
