Nestled conveniently close to Durban's King Shaka International Airport, Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom offers a vibrant escape for both serious gamblers and those seeking a multifaceted entertainment experience. As a prominent Sun International destination, it aims to provide a comprehensive resort experience, though recent guest feedback paints a picture of both significant strengths and areas ripe for improvement.
For casino enthusiasts, Sibaya appears to deliver on its primary promise. Reviewers consistently highlight the casino's spacious layout and the ample availability of slots and tables. This ensures that patrons rarely feel cramped and have a wide variety of gaming options to choose from. The casino area itself is described as well-maintained, contributing to an enjoyable and comfortable gambling environment.
The Royal Sibaya Hotel, part of the larger complex, often receives high praise. Many guests consider it among the best Sun International properties, commending the cleanliness and tidiness of the rooms, as well as the overall upkeep of the premises. The service at the hotel has been described as excellent by some, contributing to a truly 5-star stay and a great place to "enjoy some time away."
Beyond the rooms, guests have raved about the amazing local spa, offering a tranquil retreat from the excitement of the casino floor. However, a less positive note was struck regarding the practical connection between the lodge and the casino, with one reviewer noting that walking between the two could be problematic during rainy weather.
Sibaya boasts a variety of restaurant options that generally receive positive remarks. A particular highlight mentioned by guests is the inclusion of Thava restaurant within the location, which is lauded for its "absolutely great food." This adds a significant culinary draw to the entertainment complex, providing diverse and high-quality dining experiences for visitors. However, one specific critique pointed to a "dismal" breakfast, indicating potential inconsistency in the food offerings across the resort.
While the casino floor is the main draw, Sibaya also aims to cater to a broader audience. The "Fun Company" is available for those with children, though one reviewer noted a limited number of games, suggesting it might not fully occupy younger visitors for extended periods. There's also a nostalgic plea for the return of venues like "Krakatoa," indicating a desire for more non-gambling entertainment options, particularly for those who cherish the complex as a social or recreational hub rather than purely a gaming destination.
This is arguably the most polarized aspect of the Sibaya experience. While some reviewers praise the overall service and upkeep, a significant concern was raised about unfriendly staff. This feedback, coupled with issues like service doors continuously banging through the night, points to potential inconsistencies in guest service and facility maintenance that can severely impact the overall stay. For a destination marketed as a premium Sun International property, such lapses can be particularly disappointing.
Sibaya's location is a definite advantage, particularly its close proximity to the airport. This makes it a convenient stop for travelers looking to "kill some time" before flights or for those arriving and seeking immediate entertainment and accommodation without extensive travel.
Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom presents itself as a dynamic destination in Durban, offering a robust casino experience complimented by a well-regarded hotel and diverse dining options. Its strengths lie in its spacious gaming floor, often luxurious accommodation, excellent spa, and convenient location. However, inconsistent service quality, specific issues with noise, and the desire for more varied non-gambling entertainment options suggest that while it is a great place for many, there are areas where the "Kingdom" could further refine its reign to ensure a consistently stellar experience for all its subjects.
We had some time before our flight and this casino is very near to the airport. So we just visited to kill some time , we had an infant with us so we could just go to the fun company and there were not many games. Otherwise the casino is very well maintained, spacious and the restaurant options are also very good.
Great place to visit. Ample slots and tables available-spacious. The local spa is amazing. Rooms are clean and tidy. They have now included Thava to the location, absolutely great food. Cant wait to stay over again!!!!!
My sisters and I were literally brought up here it was a monthly getaway final stop. This place brings so much memories however it would be nice if krakatoa was brought back as gambling isn't part of my life but dancing it..
Stayed the weekend at the lodge from 9/5 to 11/5/25.1. Walking to the casino would ne a problem during rainy days.2. Staff are definitely not friendly at all.3. Rooms are fairly decent4. Breakfast is dismal5. Service doors not properly secured, so it continously banged/made noise all through the night - I did not bother complaining due to staff attitude6. The general perception of a Sun International destination was very disappointing.7. This hotel/lodge is more of a 1 star rating.Overall, very disappointing
Of the many Sun International destinations that we have stayed at, The Royal Sibaya Hotel is the best. The rooms, service and all around up keep of the place is truly worth 5 stars and more. Great place to enjoy some time away.
