Mykonos Casino

Nestled within the scenic Mykonos resort in Langebaan, South Africa, the Mykonos Casino offers a unique gaming experience that evokes a strong mix of opinions from its visitors. While the surrounding resort is often praised for its picturesque views and tranquil setting, the casino itself draws both fervent praise for its intimate atmosphere and sharp criticism regarding its game fairness and value.

The Casino Floor Experience 🎲

The casino at Mykonos is generally described as smaller in scale compared to larger establishments, but this is often seen as a positive by some patrons. One reviewer hailed it as the "BEST casino I have ever visited," particularly appreciating the delightful atmosphere and the presence of interactive staff at the tables, which enhances the overall enjoyment of the games.

Gaming Fairness and Payouts

A significant point of contention among visitors revolves around the perceived fairness of the games. On the one hand, a positive review highlighted a specific advantage: "A Straight Up is paid 35:1," contrasting it favorably with other casinos like Grand West, which reportedly pay 30:1. This suggests potentially better odds for certain bets.

However, this optimism is countered by strong accusations of unfair play. Multiple visitors have expressed concerns, with one stating, "The roulette tables are definately computer controlled. No way the amount of 0 and low numbers coming out are legit or random." Similarly, slot machine players have voiced considerable frustration, reporting difficulty in winning, even after spending substantial amounts. Complaints include not getting "a line that pays or a BONUS for that matter," leading to speculation that "the machines are being set/controlled" and describing the casino as "very disappointing."

Atmosphere and Service

Beyond the games, the atmosphere and service at the casino receive mixed reviews. While the staff at the tables are commended for being interactive and making the experience enjoyable, other aspects are less favorable. The casino itself was described as "questionable" by one reviewer, and drink prices were noted as being quite high, with a "double bells and soda" costing R90.

Beyond the Casino: The Mykonos Resort Setting πŸŒ…

It's important to consider the casino within the context of the broader Mykonos resort, as the overall experience can significantly influence a visitor's perception. The resort is widely lauded for its breathtaking views, particularly of the sea, and offers numerous aesthetically pleasing spots perfect for photography. Many recommend booking a sea-facing room to fully appreciate the stunning scenery and beautiful sunsets.

Practical Considerations: Load-Shedding πŸ”Œ

A common operational challenge noted by guests staying at the resort is the impact of load-shedding, South Africa's planned power outages. A major downside highlighted is the "lack of generators in the apartments," which means "the entire place is plunged into complete darkness" during these periods. While this directly impacts accommodation, it can indirectly affect the overall resort experience, including accessibility and comfort when visiting the casino.

Resort Maintenance Observations

While some find the resort "awesome" and try to visit often, others have noted a decline in the resort's upkeep, stating that it "is becoming a dirty over rated place." Specific issues like "Fake rocks have holes" were mentioned, contributing to a less polished appearance for some.

Final Thoughts πŸ€”

Mykonos Casino in Langebaan presents a dichotomous experience. For those who value interactive table staff and specific payout advantages on certain games, it can be a highly enjoyable, intimate gaming venue. However, strong concerns about the fairness of both roulette and slot machines, coupled with high drink prices and the broader resort's operational challenges like load-shedding and perceived declining maintenance, mean that a visit can also lead to significant disappointment. It appears that while the setting is undeniably beautiful, the casino experience itself is highly subjective and depends heavily on individual expectations regarding game outcomes and value for money.

Scenic Escape with Stunning Views, but Beware of Load-SheddingA lovely getaway from the city center, offering breathtaking views and plenty of aesthetically pleasing spots for photos. I highly recommend booking a sea-facing room to fully enjoy the stunning scenery, especially the beautiful sunsets. However, one major downside is the lack of generators in the apartments. During load-shedding, the entire place is plunged into complete darkness, which can be quite inconvenient.Overall, a picturesque and relaxing destination, but be prepared for power outages if you’re visiting during load-shedding periods.

This is the BEST casino I have ever visited.Small, but the atmosphere is so delightful. Interactive staff at tables, makes it so enjoyable!!!Unlike Grand West. A Straight Up is paid 35:1. Grand West only pays 30:1.The resort itself is awesome. We try and visit often.

The roulette tables are definately computer controlled. No way the amount of 0 and low numbers coming out are legit or random. Rather play the machines for 10c and treat it like an gaming arcade venue. You win R10 bonus, you loose R100 no crisis.

I've been visiting Mykonos casino for a while now, and enjoy playing slots, BUT... the downer is.. You just can't win! I spent about R3500 per night/day and don't even get a line that pays or a BONUS for that matter? This is not the way to gain customers. Give your customers some reason to come back to your establishment. I don't want to say that the machines are being set/controlled, but sometimes it seems that way. I am sorry, but i can only give you 1 (ONE) STAR! Very disappointing casino....
