Maders Hotel

Located in Pretoria, South Africa, Maders Hotel positions itself primarily as a casino. However, recent guest feedback paints a concerning picture, contrasting sharply with some older, more positive experiences. Prospective visitors should be aware of significant discrepancies in service, cleanliness, and overall environment.

The Highs (Primarily Older Feedback) 😊

  1. Affordable Beverages: Several years ago, guests lauded the "excellent beer prices," with local beers noted at just R10. This indicates a potential for value on drinks. đŸģ
  2. Value for Money Food: Older reviews also mentioned food being considered "appealing and good value," suggesting that at one point, the culinary offerings were a draw.
  3. Friendly Service (Historical): Some past visitors reported "friendly and fast" service from staff, indicating that positive interactions were possible.

It's important to note that most of the positive feedback dates back several years. One review from six years ago specifically mentioned "renovation's currently being done," which suggests that the establishment may have been in a state of flux, and its current condition could be very different from its past state.

The Lows (Recent and Recurring Concerns) 👎

  1. Pervasive Cleanliness Issues: This is a major and recurring complaint. Recent reviews describe "dark hallways, dirty bathrooms, dirty toilets, dirty showers, dirty carpets," and even a lack of "toilet paper in bathrooms." The overall impression points to a severe lapse in hygiene standards. đŸ¤ĸđŸšŊ
  2. Serious Management and Financial Accusations: A very recent review makes a grave accusation, stating that "the managers steals your money and can't pay the payment out." If true, this raises serious concerns about the establishment's integrity and financial practices. 💸
  3. Poor Maintenance and Aesthetics: Guests frequently comment on the need for a "total makeover." Descriptions include "dusty furniture, cheap decor," and an exterior that "looks less dodgy." This indicates a lack of investment in maintaining a presentable and comfortable environment. đŸ› ī¸
  4. Rude Staff & Lack of Basic Amenities: Beyond cleanliness, recent feedback highlights "rude personell" and a complete absence of basic hotel services such as "no coffee or room service."
  5. Unsavory Clientele & Safety Concerns: One review expressed discomfort, noting that while staff were friendly, they "don't have much control over kakmakers that hang out there," leading to a decision not to return. This suggests a potentially unruly or unsafe atmosphere.

Overall Impression and Recommendation

Based on the most recent user reviews, Maders Hotel appears to be struggling significantly with cleanliness, management, and overall upkeep. While it may have once offered good value for money on food and drinks, these positive aspects are now overshadowed by serious concerns regarding hygiene, customer service, and even financial trustworthiness.

Given the severity of the negative feedback, particularly the very recent accusations concerning money and widespread cleanliness issues, prospective visitors are advised to exercise extreme caution. Maders Hotel seems to be in urgent need of a comprehensive overhaul, focusing on fundamental aspects like hygiene, customer service training, and transparent financial practices, to regain the trust of its patrons and improve its reputation as a casino and hotel in Pretoria.

The beer prices are excellent at R10 a beer for local beers. Food apprenticing and good value. Service was friendly and fast will be supporting them again. Note renovation's currently being done bar and kitchen open.

Not bad at all. Just need revamping outside so that it looks less dodgy. Place needs a total makeover

Staff are mostly very friendly with good service, but they don't have much control over kakmakers that hang out there. I won't go there again, sorry.
