The Sun City Hotel, located within the renowned Sun City resort in South Africa, is primarily known as a casino hotel aiming to offer a premium entertainment and accommodation experience. However, a review of recent guest feedback reveals a notable gap between its iconic status and the actual guest experience, with numerous concerns overshadowing its positive aspects.
Based on guest ratings, the Sun City Hotel currently averages below expectations, suggesting that while the broader Sun City resort remains a popular destination for its activities and safe environment, the hotel itself often falls short in terms of hospitality standards and facility upkeep. Many visitors expressed disappointment given the high cost of their stay.
A significant number of recurring issues were reported by guests, indicating areas where substantial improvements are needed:
The Sun City Hotel, despite its affiliation with a highly regarded and entertaining resort, is currently struggling with guest satisfaction due to a combination of outdated facilities, inconsistent customer service, and maintenance issues. The ongoing 3-year refurbishment project provides a hopeful outlook for future improvements, with early indications of renovated rooms being well-received. However, until these extensive renovations are complete and service standards are consistently elevated, prospective guests should be mindful of the reported shortcomings. While the array of activities and the secure environment of the greater Sun City resort remain a significant draw, the hotel itself needs to significantly enhance its offerings to align with its premium pricing and prestigious reputation.
My Husband and I stayed at the sun city hotel for 4 nights, unfortunately there was some negatives that we occurred from the second floor hallways smelling which was understandable due to the rains as well as our room being stuffy. Breakfast buffet was average but don't take me wrong there is still quite a good selection of food options In the morning.
Beautiful, entertaining and enjoyable. But the lady hostess was rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. I could even say racist because she only attended to local people even though we were hours in the queue. She refused to help but as soon as a local person arrived, she would assist enthusiastically.
We always go to sun city for vacation - we love sun city! Our first time at the sun city hotel - with our new baby. We did not have a great first experience at this hotel, our room key did not work, we waited 3 hours before someone came to fix the door in order to go into the room. On the way to the room i saw alot of black-mold in the hallway on the 1st floor - I was worried for my baby... Eventually got inside, the room smelled like mold, tv did not work, drains was blocked and no hot water. The "fridge" also did keep anything cold, we asked for assistance and they said it's not a fridge, it's just a cooler (not as advertised when you book the room). They are also busy with renovations - which they did not tell us. But atleast they are doing something with the rooms, as the rooms are very out dated. The renovated rooms are very pretty!! We are just a bit disappointed in the poor customer service, for a very expensive stay. Furthermore, the breakfast is very nice and sun city resort overall is great! Just not a fan of the secret str*p club (the revue bar) that they have here at this family resort.
I am so disappointed in the service received. This did not feel like a 4 star hotel. We are frequent guests. We usually stay at cascades, but it was fully booked so we chose the main hotel. The lifts were not working. Our room was not ready at 2pm. When we got our room there was no box of tissues and the bath tub was not working properly. The next day we asked that our room was cleaned at 9am. We told reception as well. Eventually 5pm our room was cleaned. The breakfast was a disaster. The table they seated us at had dirty cutlery. The oats that they brought for us had pieces of egg in it. The staff did not clear the table. The only upside at breakfast was the coffee. We love going to Sun city because of the activities and.safe environment. It's a pity that the hotel is not up to the right standards. Sun City is not cheap! Please do better.
It is a little sad to see such an iconic place deteriorate. I am waiting to see what happens after the 3 year refurbishment project. From checking in, there was a long queue, but there were only 3 clerks behind the counter. I booked a 6 nights stay but as the booking is not one booking, the paperwork is not customer friendly. The Porters, Housekeeping and Room service team was the only service that I can give a 5 star review too!
