Paradise Casino Walkerhill Guide and Review

Located within the Grand Walkerhill Seoul complex, Paradise Casino Walkerhill is often cited as one of the larger casinos in South Korea. However, recent user reviews paint a picture of an establishment that frequently falls short of expectations, highlighting significant areas for improvement across its services and facilities.
The Upsides β¨
While the overall sentiment leans negative, there are a couple of points that visitors have appreciated:
- Convenient Shuttle Service: Despite its somewhat secluded location, the casino offers a free shuttle bus service from nearby train stations, which is a definite plus for accessibility.
- Small Gestures: Some patrons noted receiving complimentary amenities such as bottles of water and a "cute keychain."
Areas for Improvement π
The majority of feedback from recent visitors points to several significant downsides that impact the overall experience:
Accessibility and Location Challenges
Despite the available shuttle service, the casino is described by some as being "hidden away and not easily accessible." This can contribute to a feeling of it being somewhat disconnected and less inviting compared to more prominent entertainment venues.
Atmosphere and Offerings
The ambiance inside Paradise Casino Walkerhill receives consistent criticism. Reviewers frequently describe the casino as "old, dreary and uninviting," and even liken it to a "backroom illegal joint." The general lack of variety in entertainment beyond gaming tables is another common complaint, with one user noting there's "very little to do other than gaming tables." Furthermore, observations about the demographic, with a "majority of patrons being male," also contribute to a less diverse or vibrant atmosphere for some visitors.
Gaming Experience: A Frustrating Endeavor
Specific aspects of the gaming experience, particularly the poker room, drew considerable negative feedback:
- Limited Tables & Staffing: There are reports of "limited table open" and a perceived lack of sufficient staff, leading to a restricted gaming environment and potential wait times.
- Poker Room Issues: The poker room is frequently called out as "way too small" and severely "understaffed." This leads to incredibly long waiting times for tables. One reviewer detailed a particularly frustrating experience: being 26th on a waiting list, told it would be a 2-hour wait, only to find 14 people still ahead after those 2 hours.
- Inefficient Waiting List Management: The system for managing waiting lists is described as poor, with staff reportedly using a "flimsy scrap of paper." This inefficiency, combined with staff being perceived as "snappy" when asked about wait times, contributes to a highly frustrating customer experience.
Customer Service Shortcomings
The staff at Paradise Casino Walkerhill received widespread negative comments. Reviewers described front staff as "fairly rude" and poker room staff as "stressed and rude" due to being understaffed. There's a sentiment that staff are "little more than trained parrots that are not empowered to remedy problems," indicating a lack of proactive problem-solving and customer empowerment, especially in resolving hotel-related issues like buffet inclusions.
Value for Money
While some comments related more directly to the associated hotel, the sentiment of the overall complex being "overpriced and overrated" permeates the reviews. Specific examples include a hotel room costing around $300 a night with confusion regarding included amenities like buffets, contributing to a feeling of poor value.
Overall Impression
Based on recent user experiences, Paradise Casino Walkerhill appears to struggle with providing a welcoming and efficient gaming environment. While it offers some basic conveniences like a shuttle service, the pervasive issues with atmosphere, understaffing, inefficient operations (especially in the poker room), and staff rudeness significantly detract from the overall visitor experience. Many reviewers expressed a strong reluctance to return, indicating that the casino currently fails to meet the standards expected of a premier entertainment venue in Seoul.
Supposedly the bigger casino in Korea but find it hidden away and not easily accessible. The casino offers very little to do other than gaming tables and feels like a backroom illegal joint with majority of patrons being male.My only guess is that of government strategy to make it less attractive overall.
Overpriced and overrated. Spent a night and was glad to leave. The casino is old, dreary and uninviting so I passed on gambling. Stayed at the Walker Hill Grand Hotel. We were told the buffet was included only to be told that wasnβt the case when we arrived. With tax the room cost $300 a night. The front desk staff are little more than trained parrots that are not empowered to remedy problems. The best part of the stay was viewing the hotel in my rear view mirror as I gladly departed. I would not recommend wasting money on this establishment. I will certainly not be staying again.
Front staff are fairly rude. Poker room is way too small. Understaffed so the staff are stressed and rude. 26 people were in front of me on the waiting list. They told me it would be a 2 hour wait. Waited for 2 hours. Still 14 people in front of me on the waiting list. It's actually like a 20 minute wait just to check your waiting list status. They keep the list on a flimsy scrap of paper and get snappy when you ask how many people are in front of you, which I only did once, after the 2 hours of waiting. π Won't be back!2 stars for free bottles of water and a free cute keychain.
