Gran Casino Costa Meloneras Guide and Review

Nestled in the picturesque area of Meloneras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Casino Costa Meloneras offers a blend of gaming and leisure experiences. While praised for its aesthetics and some aspects of service, visitors have reported a range of experiences, from highly positive to concerning issues related to financial transactions.
First Impressions & Ambiance ✨
The casino benefits from a "cool looking building" that fits well with the upscale surroundings of Meloneras. Internally, the venue is frequently described as "smart, clean, and tidy," contributing to a pleasant environment for gaming. However, some visitors have noted that despite the attractive exterior, there isn't "much inside" in terms of diverse activities beyond the core casino offerings, suggesting a need for a fresh concept or more engaging internal features.
Gaming Offerings & Requirements 🎰
For those interested in table games, Gran Casino Costa Meloneras provides options like blackjack. Reviewers have highlighted that the blackjack tables offer "decent rules" and a player-friendly 3:2 payout, which was a positive point for those who played. It is crucial for prospective visitors to remember that a passport is required for identification to gain entry to the table games area.
Service & Hospitality 🥂
The staff at Gran Casino Costa Meloneras generally receives high marks for their professionalism and helpfulness. Several reviews commend the team, noting them as "very helpful when cashing out" and contributing to a positive experience. The bar service stands out, with the bartender lauded as "excellent" and credited for crafting high-quality beverages such as espresso martinis and pina coladas. Waitress service on the gaming floor is also reported to be good, with drinks available at "reasonable" prices.
Critical Concerns: Cash Handling & Transparency ⚠️
Despite the positive aspects, a significant concern raised by one detailed review pertains to the casino's chip and cash handling procedures. This review alleges multiple instances where cash game poker players were short-changed hundreds of euros. The complaint highlights a specific practice of coloring up chips at the table without the use of standard chip racks, which reportedly led to counting "mistakes." Similar discrepancies were noted at the cashier window. These claims raise serious questions about the transparency and accuracy of financial transactions within the casino, urging visitors to be extremely vigilant when cashing out their winnings.
Overall Experience
Gran Casino Costa Meloneras offers a convenient and generally well-maintained space for casino enthusiasts in Meloneras, particularly for those who enjoy blackjack and appreciate good bar service. The friendly and professional staff are often a highlight. However, potential patrons should exercise caution and meticulously verify all chip counts and cash payouts due to the serious allegations regarding financial discrepancies. Visitors planning to play table games should also ensure they have their passport for identification.
I witnessed three different employees giving cash game poker players hundreds of euros less than they should have received. Theft? They insist that you color up your chips at the end of the night AT THE TABLE. But they don’t use chip racks and they make “mistakes”. One time they gave me 250 euros too little. Another time at the cashier window they gave me 200 euros too little (because they count without using chip racks unlike every other casino in the world). And a German guy went to the bathroom at the end of the night and the manager Nicole shorted him 300 euros but only gave him an additional 250 euro.
Needs a new concept. Cool looking building, not much inside. The bartender is excellent though, one ofnthe best espresso martinis I have had
Nice little casino centrally located in Meloneras. Only played the blackjack tables which were decent rules and paid 3:2, did quite well on the blackjack. Staff friendly with good waitress service and drinks reasonable. Take your passport as ID is required to go into the table games area. Would return if holidaying in the area again.
