Casino Gran Vía I Poker Room Guide and Review

Located in the heart of Madrid, Casino Gran Vía I Poker Room stands out not only for its gaming offerings but also for its impressive architecture and lively atmosphere. User reviews paint a picture of a visually appealing venue with a generally positive guest experience, though some specific areas could see improvement.
What We Loved ✨
- Stunning Ambiance: The casino's building is frequently praised for its beautiful interior and being well-maintained, creating a great overall atmosphere for visitors.
- Friendly and Professional Staff: From the front desk to the bar and general service, staff members are consistently described as nice, friendly, and professional. Notably, the bar staff were found to speak English, which is helpful for international guests.
- Excellent Bar Service: Even for non-gamblers, the bar comes highly recommended, offering generous pours and excellent drink recommendations (like red wine and gin & tonics) at reasonable prices.
- Gaming Variety & Comfort: The casino offers a good selection of machines with ample space between them. Guests enjoyed cash games and Ultimate Texas Hold'em tables, noting that poker tables have convenient drink holders for every player.
- Efficient Check-in and Cash-Out: First-time players found the check-in process quick and friendly. Those who cashed out reported a smooth experience, receiving a practical mix of large and smaller bills.
Areas for Improvement & Considerations ❗
- Poker Table Availability (Low Stakes): A significant concern for some poker players, particularly those seeking low-stakes games (1/3€), is the limited number of open tables and potentially long waiting lists. One reviewer reported waiting four hours without getting a seat when 12 players were on the list.
- Dealer Communication: Some poker players have reported difficulties with dealers refusing to communicate in English, posing a challenge for non-Spanish speaking visitors at the tables.
- Smoking Area Proximity: While a dedicated smoking area exists (at least on the 2nd floor), the gaming area just outside of it may carry the smell of cigarette smoke, which could be a deterrent for some.
Gaming Experience Notes 🃏
For those interested in the gaming floor, guests have enjoyed various machines, cash games, and Ultimate Texas tables. The overall atmosphere is generally described as cool, fun, and comfortable in terms of temperature. However, if your primary goal is to play low-stakes poker, it's advisable to factor in potential long waiting times and possible language barriers with dealers, which could impact your experience.
Beyond the Gaming Floor 🥂
Don't overlook the bar, even if you're not planning to gamble. It's a highlight for many, known for its welcoming staff, excellent drinks, and comfortable setting. It offers a great spot to relax and enjoy a beverage in a grand environment.
Overall, Casino Gran Vía I Poker Room offers a largely positive and enjoyable experience, particularly for those who appreciate a grand setting, good service, and a variety of gaming options. While poker enthusiasts should be mindful of specific challenges regarding table availability and language, the casino remains a strong contender for entertainment in Madrid.
It was a real nice casino. You need your passport if you are going, keep this in mind.I won! Recuperated what I lost in the Barcelona casino. If you like casinos, you won’t be disappointed.
Had an amazing experience visiting this casino, staff here was nice as well. Earned fee bucks and ultimately lost them but overall fun it was
This review is for the bar since we did not gamble in the casino. The bar staff was very friendly, spoke English. Recommended an excellent red wine for me, with a generous pour. My husband's gin and tonic contained a very generous amount of gin.
Cool casino, the building looks great inside, it’s well maintained and has a great atmosphere. There is plenty of machines and space between them, which is great compared to different casinos. I really enjoyed cash games and the ultimate texas tables. The service was great, drinks weren’t expensive.
If you are on vacation and you wanna spend time playing poker at low stakes(1/3€) i do not recommend this place.Yesterday we ware 20 players when they started(2pm) and instead of opening 2 table of 8 players they opened only 1 and the rest of 12 players on the waiting list...I've been waiting 4 hours and I still was the 9th on the waiting list. And of course the dealers refuse to communicate in English as well..
