Gran Madrid | Casino Colón

Located in the heart of Madrid, Gran Madrid Casino Colón serves as a central hub for those seeking casino entertainment. User reviews offer a mixed, though predominantly critical, picture of the establishment, highlighting significant concerns about game fairness and overall atmosphere.

Key Insights from Recent Visitor Experiences

Recent feedback from patrons of Gran Madrid Casino Colón reveals several recurring themes, ranging from serious game integrity issues to observations on the casino's ambiance and staff interaction.

Concerns Regarding Game Integrity 📉

A significant number of recent reviews express strong doubts about the fairness and transparency of the games, particularly roulette and blackjack:

  1. Electronic Roulette Anomalies: Multiple users reported that the electronic roulette wheels, including the "live" ones displayed on screens, felt unnatural. One reviewer specifically noted that "the bounce and everything about them isn't natural," advising others to "Stay away. Don't waste ur money here." 🎲
  2. Suspicious Card Shuffling: A highly experienced casino industry veteran (19 years in Las Vegas) reported a concerning incident at a blackjack table with an automatic shuffler. They observed the machine "spit out red and black cards" during play, which is considered "very abnormal according to casino standards" for a continuous shuffler. The reviewer also noted that the issue was disregarded by the dealer and no supervisor was called, leading them to conclude the experience was "handled improperly." 🃏

Atmosphere and Staff Interaction 🌬️

Beyond game concerns, the casino's environment and staff drew criticism:

  1. Unwelcoming Atmosphere: One international traveler described the casino as "dark and cold," and "the worst casino I have ever been" globally, despite rating it 5 stars – a contradiction that emphasizes the severity of their textual criticism. Another reviewer found it "not a warm and friendly place."
  2. Lack of Dealer Engagement: There were complaints that "the dealers did not speak to players or interact," contributing to the unwelcoming atmosphere and a lack of transparency, especially when issues were raised.

Positive Aspects and Amenities 👍

While negative feedback is prominent, some past reviews offer a different perspective:

  1. Accessible Minimums: Older reviews mentioned favorable minimum bets, with blackjack at €5 and €10 and roulette at €5, making it potentially accessible for various budgets.
  2. Variety of Games: The casino reportedly features "lots of slot machines and video games" in addition to table games.
  3. Pleasant Bar Experience: One visitor from Germany who had a winning session highlighted that "the bar was really nice," suggesting it could be a pleasant spot for a break. 🍻

Summary and Recommendation

Gran Madrid Casino Colón presents a mixed bag based on recent user experiences. While some visitors have enjoyed their time and found the minimums reasonable, the most recent and detailed reviews raise significant red flags regarding game integrity—specifically with electronic roulette and card shuffling procedures. The reported lack of staff engagement and an unwelcoming atmosphere further detract from the experience for many.

Prospective visitors, especially those experienced in casino environments, are advised to proceed with caution and be mindful of the concerns raised about game fairness and transparency before committing their funds. It is recommended to observe the games closely and consider the atmosphere before engaging in high-stakes play.

My friend and I were playing slots on the bottom floor and I tried to order a coffee through the waitress, one of the waitresses who was short and had short hair said "un momento" and then she started chatting with another colleague, I waited for a long time and she never came over again, and I didn't bother her, and finally we stopped playing the game ourselves and went to the the bar to order coffee.

The casino is not a warm and friendly place. The dealers did not speak to players or interact. What’s most worrying is that I was on a $10EU minimum table with an automatic shuffler. While the game was in play, I noticed that the shuffle machine spit out red and black cards. While I’m not accusing the casino of cheating, I have to say that this was very abnormal according to casino standards.I was in the casino table games industry for over 19 years, and this is not a practice that would normally be acceptable.A auto shuffle machine holds 4-6 decks of cards. After each hand is dealt, the dealer pays or takes bets as expected and puts the discards back into the machine. In the casino industry, you should never see more than one color backing of cards on a table, if it’s a continuous shuffle machine. If this occurs, it should raise red flags, and the game should stop. When I noticed the issue, the dealer disregarded it as if it was standard operation and no supervisor or Pitt Boss was called to explain what was going on. (Basically I was ignored although I had alerted other players to the problem.)When there is an issue, which as a player you are allowed to see the transparency of the table games as humans do make mistakes, and that is the reason why you have the eye in the sky.Their job is to protect players fromIrregularities for players as well as casinos. If something is not accurate, they are supposed to respond impartially. For ME, this experience was handled improperly, and I would think twice before gambling in this particular casino again.I worked in Las Vegas for many years and opened multiple casinos. Again, not accusing, but something doesn’t add up.
