Casino De Montesblancos

Far from the glittering lights and bustling tables one might associate with a typical casino, Casino De Montesblancos in Zaragoza, Spain, presents a starkly different, yet equally captivating, experience. This once-emblematic establishment is no longer a functioning gambling hall but stands as a fascinating, albeit decaying, monument to its past. Visitors are drawn not by the promise of winnings, but by an intriguing blend of mystery, history, and a touch of the inexplicable.

The Enigmatic Atmosphere ✨

Reviews consistently highlight the peculiar energy and enigmatic atmosphere that pervades Casino De Montesblancos. One visitor described feeling as if "time stopped when crossing its limits," with the silence broken only by the rustling of leaves, creating a sense of ancient secrets. Another noted a distinct feeling of being watched, suggesting the place truly holds a special charge beyond the ordinary. It's an ideal destination for those who appreciate the unusual, the unexplained, and the raw beauty of nature reclaiming its space.

A Glimpse into a Storied Past

Once a grand and emblematic building, Casino De Montesblancos carries the weight of a "dark business that ended in a bloody way," according to one reviewer. While its operational days are long over, the site still seems to "breathe the old splendor," offering a poignant reminder of its former glory. This historical depth adds another layer to its allure, making it a compelling spot for urban explorers and those interested in abandoned places.

Current Condition and Safety Concerns ⚠️

The passage of time has taken a significant toll on the structure. Reviews frequently mention the considerable deterioration of the place, with explicit warnings about the "danger of collapses both on the road and inside the buildings." While groups of people do visit, and some find it not "very dangerous" at the moment, it's crucial for any potential visitor to exercise extreme caution and be aware of the inherent risks. There's a strong sentiment that the current owner, the Government of Aragon, should monitor and manage the site for safety.

The notion of the casino being "open 24 hours a day" is, as one reviewer sarcastically pointed out, "quite relative." This likely refers to its abandoned state where access is technically possible at any time, rather than it being an operational business.

Who Should Visit?

Casino De Montesblancos is highly recommended for:

  1. Mystery Seekers: Those intrigued by strange energies and unexplained phenomena.
  2. Nature Enthusiasts: Individuals who enjoy walking and taking in good views amidst a unique natural setting.
  3. Urban Explorers and Photographers: The ruins offer a dramatic backdrop perfect for photography and exploring abandoned architecture.
  4. History Buffs: People interested in sites with a rich, albeit dark, past.

In conclusion, Casino De Montesblancos is far from a typical casino experience. It's a hauntingly beautiful, dangerously captivating, and deeply mysterious relic in Zaragoza. It's a place where you'll find no slot machines or roulette wheels, but rather a profound sense of history, an air of enigma, and ample opportunity for introspection and exploration. Just remember to proceed with care and respect for its dilapidated state.

I biked up to Casino Montes Blancos one Sunday, looking for a little exercise and different views… but what I found was something more. The place has a peculiar energy, almost as if time stopped when crossing its limits. The silence, interrupted only by the rustling of leaves and the distant song of a bird, creates an enigmatic atmosphere, as if the site kept ancient secrets. As I pedaled around, I couldn't help but feel like something—or someone—was watching me. I don't know if it was suggestion or if the place really has a special charge, but it is definitely not an ordinary place. Ideal for those who enjoy mystery, nature... and the inexplicable.

It is a shame to see the deterioration of the place but to film a zombie/apocalyptic film....it is the perfect place.....be careful when accessing....danger of collapses both on the road and inside the buildings....like accessing the Titanic...it seems to breathe the old splendor....

Good views and good walk around the area. Remains of a building that was very emblematic, a dark business that ended in a bloody way. There are usually groups of people visiting it, at the moment, it is not very dangerous but I think that the Government of Aragon (current owner) should keep an eye on it.
