Located in the vibrant city of Geneva, Switzerland, Le Riva is primarily known as a casino, yet it garners significant attention for its integrated restaurant. User reviews paint a picture of a venue that offers a distinctive blend of gaming excitement and a surprisingly strong culinary experience, albeit with some notable variations in diner perception.
The restaurant at Le Riva frequently receives high praise, with many reviewers highlighting it as a significant draw. It is described as having an intimate setting, suggesting that booking ahead is highly recommended due to limited seating. The ambiance is generally considered beautiful and contributes to a good atmosphere, though one guest did note finding themselves dining directly next to poker tables, which detracted from their experience.
Consistently, the service at Le Riva is lauded as a major strong point. Diners have described the staff as fast, very pleasant, attentive, and welcoming. One reviewer specifically mentioned a positive interaction with a casino manager, emphasizing the welcoming nature of the venue's leadership. Even a less satisfied customer acknowledged the service as "friendly and efficient," although they noted minor issues with order recall.
For many, the food at Le Riva is a highlight. Reviewers have praised both the winter and summer menus as equally good. Dishes are frequently described as "very beautiful visually" and "excellent in taste." The rib-eye steak received particular acclaim for its exceptional quality, though one reviewer did note its presentation could be improved. The quantity of food is also mentioned as being plentiful. Classic desserts, such as tiramisu, are highlighted as excellent, though some wish for more imaginative dessert options.
However, the culinary experience is not universally praised. One dissenting review described their meal as a "disaster," citing a complete lack of taste and a dessert that tasted as if it had been stored in a fridge. This contrasting opinion suggests a potential for inconsistency in the kitchen, or perhaps a rare off-night.
The restaurant's formula, which includes a starter, main course, and dessert, is frequently cited as being "very reasonable" given the high quality and generous quantity of the food. This makes Le Riva's restaurant an attractive option for those looking for a good meal at a fair price in Geneva.
Le Riva in Geneva appears to offer a compelling dining experience within its casino setting. While primarily a casino, the restaurant consistently earns high marks for its excellent service, welcoming staff, beautiful setting, and generally high-quality, well-presented, and plentiful food. The meal formula is considered good value. Despite a rare negative culinary review and minor facility drawbacks, the overwhelmingly positive feedback suggests Le Riva's restaurant is a noteworthy destination in Geneva, making it worth a visit for both its culinary offerings and the unique ambiance of a casino environment.
This is the 2nd time that we have been able to come to the Riva. The winter menu and the summer menu are both equally good. The service is fast, the servers very pleasant and attentive. We were able to meet one of the casino managers who was very welcoming. The dishes are very well presented and plentiful. The price of the starter, main course and dessert formula is very reasonable given the quality and quantity. We will come back with great pleasure.
Very good service, the staff is attentive. Good food, especially the rib-eye steak which is excellent (but unfortunately not very well presented). And otherwise good atmosphere and beautiful setting.
In a most intimate setting (few places, reservation recommended +++), very pleasant welcome at the entrance to the casino as well as at the restaurant itself.Starters, main courses and desserts are very beautiful visually and excellent in taste. The desserts deserve a little more fantasy but the classics (like tiramisu) are excellent too.The only downside in the kitchen: appetizers or peanuts would have been welcome with the aperitif.Ps: only 1 toilet for men/women-children in the entire restaurant… that’s a bit tight
First the positive: friendly and efficient service, attentive staff (not always in less than two minutes the waitress had forgotten who to eat what) so not great either.Concerning the meal: a disaster, nothing good, no taste and the dessert nugget which tasted like it had in the fridge. After all that we were offered cocktails which they could because even that wasn't great. The price is really not worth the cost just for the atmosphere and even more so when you find yourself next to all the poker tables. Not to be repeated for our part.
