Treasure Island

Located in the heart of Glasgow, Treasure Island is primarily known as a casino, yet user reviews paint a picture of a venue with a surprisingly diverse identity and a mixed bag of experiences. While some visitors laud its nostalgic charm and friendly atmosphere, others have faced significant issues regarding staff conduct and entry policies.

The Good: What Visitors Enjoy โœจ

For many, Treasure Island offers a delightful escape, blending classic arcade vibes with the excitement of a casino. Hereโ€™s what frequently earns praise:

  1. Nostalgic Appeal & Game Variety: Users describe it as a "little slice of nostalgia mixed with the modern thrill of Vegas." The selection of machines is a major draw, with mentions of a "great selection of old school machines," "hundreds" of "jackpot slot machines," and "bustling cash and prize Bingo." One recent review even highlighted a "great bingo" experience.
  2. Staff & Homely Feel: Positive reviews frequently commend the staff, describing them as "lovely" and "excellent." There's a sentiment that it might still be a "family run business," contributing to a "very homely feel." This personal touch seems to create a welcoming environment for some.
  3. Complimentary Perks: A standout detail for some patrons is the generous offering of "complimentary drinks, snacks and cakes," adding an unexpected layer of hospitality to their visit.
  4. Lively Atmosphere: Despite conflicting accounts, some visitors genuinely report "loads of folk having a great time," indicating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere at times.

Areas for Improvement: Criticisms and Concerns โš ๏ธ

However, Treasure Island's reputation isn't universally positive. A significant number of reviews highlight problematic aspects, primarily concerning staff behavior and a perceived lack of customer service:

  1. Rude and Disrespectful Staff: This is a recurring and strong point of contention. Several reviews explicitly state encountering "rude and disrespectful staff," with one user remarking that "those waitresses would do anything to not have customers in."
  2. Arbitrary Entry & Ejection Policies: Instances of being "asked at entering if we had been drinking and then told to leave" or being "kicked out for literally no reason" are concerning. These experiences suggest inconsistent or overly strict enforcement of rules, leading to frustration and a feeling of being unwelcome.
  3. Questionable Atmosphere for Some: In stark contrast to the positive descriptions, some visitors found the interior to be dismal, with one reviewer bluntly stating it "looks like a morgue inside."
  4. Skepticism About Operations: The level of negative experiences has led some patrons to openly wonder how the establishment "is still open," even venturing speculative remarks about its legitimacy.

Overall Verdict ๐Ÿค”

Treasure Island in Glasgow appears to be a place of stark contrasts. For those who have positive encounters, it offers a unique blend of gaming, nostalgia, and genuine hospitality, complete with thoughtful complimentary gestures. Yet, a significant portion of visitors report unwelcoming staff and baffling entry/ejection policies, overshadowing any potential enjoyment. Prospective visitors should be aware of these conflicting experiences and approach with an open mind, as a visit to Treasure Island could be either a hidden gem or a disappointing encounter.

Surprised they are still operating.Had a glass of wine at the arcade, then decided to try this place to kill time. Were asked at entering if we had been drinking and then told to leave. I understand right to refuse service, but those waitresses would do anything to not have customers in. Amusing to say the least. Sorry for the owner. Looks like a morgue inside. Save your money and go somewhere else

I Love this place, situated right in the heart of Glasgow it feels like a little slice of nostalgia mixed with the modern thrill of Vegas. With the jackpot slot machines (which there are hundreds) to the bustling cash and prize Bingo there are loads of folk having a great time. The staff are excellent, I think itโ€™s still a family run business which gives it a very homely feel to it. Not to mention the complimentary drinks, snacks and cakes I was offered.... AmazingIโ€™ll be back and Iโ€™ll be taking my maw ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

1 star is too high, rude and disrespectful staff. If you manage to even play a machine before being kicked out for literally no reason, then you got further than most people I know! How it's still open baffles me. Maybe a laundering scheme?
