Napoleons Casino & Restaurant, Sheffield Guide and Review

Located in the vibrant city of Sheffield, United Kingdom, Napoleons Casino & Restaurant offers a dual experience, primarily functioning as a casino while also boasting a significant dining component. Based on recent user reviews, this establishment presents a mixed but generally positive picture, particularly regarding its culinary offerings and value.
The Dining Experience π½οΈ
The restaurant at Napoleons is noted for its comfortable seating and a generally pleasant environment, although one reviewer observed it to be "squished at the end of the casino." Despite its location within a gaming venue, the focus on dining quality is evident from user feedback.
Food Quality & Portions: The culinary aspect receives strong commendations. Patrons have highlighted the generous portions and the impressive quality of the food. Steaks, in particular, are frequently praised for being cooked to the "exact degree of doneness" ordered, a testament to the kitchen's precision. Reviewers have described the food quality as "incredible" and "perfect," with one even calling it the "best place to eat in the Hillsborough area by far." Recent menu changes have also been positively received, with specific dishes like the Melon and Parma Ham with Goat's Cheese, Cote de Boeuf with beef dripping gravy, and Lemon and Raspberry tart earning high praise. The only minor critique for food was that chips were "a bit mushy" in one instance.
Drinks: While there's a "good selection of drinks," one user noted that the establishment "don't mix any cocktails," which could be a drawback for some looking for a full bar experience.
Value: A recurring theme in the reviews is the excellent value, especially when taking advantage of specific deals. A popular offer includes a steak meal, a drink, and a Β£5 bet voucher, which has been described as "unbelievable value." This combination makes the dining experience particularly attractive, especially for those who appreciate the added bonus of casino play.
Atmosphere & Casino Integration π²
As a primary casino, Napoleons integrates its dining area within the gaming environment. This can be a benefit for those who enjoy both activities, but it also creates a distinct atmosphere that might not appeal to everyone. One review specifically noted that for those who "don't gamble," it's "just not the first choice for people looking to dine out," despite enjoying the dinner. This suggests that the casino setting, while not detracting from the food quality, might limit its appeal as a standalone restaurant destination for some.
Some long-time visitors have observed changes in the casino's atmosphere, particularly during traditionally festive times like New Year's Eve. One reviewer lamented the lack of "atmosphere, no smart dress how it used to be. No countdown party poppers or champagne to let in the new year," contrasting it with previous "brilliant" experiences. The physical layout also seems to have been altered, with one user feeling it "seems smaller inside now it's been altered."
Service & Staff π
User feedback consistently describes the staff as friendly, contributing positively to the overall experience.
Conclusion
Napoleons Casino & Restaurant in Sheffield appears to be a strong contender for those seeking high-quality food at excellent value, especially if they are open to, or actively participating in, the casino experience. While the restaurant provides a comfortable setting and culinary excellence, its integration within a casino means the overall ambiance might not suit all diners, particularly those looking for a traditional, non-gambling focused dining spot. However, for those keen on a good meal with the potential for entertainment, Napoleons offers a compelling package that many find to be "much better than expected."
A slightly delayed review of our new year's event at Napoleon's Sheffield. The restaurant is squished at the end of the casino and offers comfortable seating in a nice environment. Food portions are generous and there's a good selection of drinks.Overall we enjoyed our dinner, unlikely to visit again though. Mainly due to the fact that it's part of the casino and we don't gamble, just not the first choice for people looking to dine out.
Everything was much better than I expected. We were surprised when we get our steaks in the exact degree of doneness we ordered, all of them were different. Chips were a bit mushy and they donβt mix any cocktails. But rest was good and staff were friendly.
What's happened here, not been for a long time. Visited for NY eve 2024, no atmosphere, no smart dress how it used to be. No countdown party poppers or champagne to let in the new year. It used to be brilliant at the weekends too. Seems smaller inside now it's been altered. Food was good tho as was always.
Deal on at the moment running Monday to Wednesday, where you get a steak meal, drink and Β£5 bet voucher. Unbelievable value and to top it off, the quality of the food is incredible. Always come here for food and never disappointed, the best place to eat in the hillsborough area by far.
Came to the restaurant for the first time and was very impressed! It was a new menu tonight, and I had the Melon and Parma Ham with Goat's Cheese to start, the Cote de Boeuf with beef dripping gravy for mains, and the Lemon and Raspberry tart for dessert. The food was perfect and we couldn't find fault. Amazing value, especially with the free Β£5 for the casino! We will definitely be back!
