Horseshoe Hammond Casino

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Hammond, Indiana, Horseshoe Hammond Casino is a popular destination often associated with the greater Chicago metropolitan area. This floating casino aims to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience, from high-stakes gaming to live performances. However, recent visitor feedback paints a somewhat mixed picture, with strong praise for its entertainment venue contrasting with significant concerns about the casino floor and certain services.

The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond: A Shining Star ✨

One of the most consistently praised aspects of Horseshoe Hammond is The Venue, its dedicated space for live entertainment. Visitors frequently highlight its quality:

  1. Excellent Setup: Guests report "nice" and "great seats," with one reviewer feeling "right on the stage with the band." The sound quality is often described as "top notch," making for an immersive concert experience.
  2. Diverse Shows: From renowned musicians like Leela James to interactive events such as "Price is Right Live," The Venue hosts a variety of performances that appeal to different tastes. While one attendee found "The Price is Right" show "overpriced" or a "rip off," they still acknowledged it was "fun."
  3. Positive Staff Interactions: The staff at The Venue received high marks for their helpfulness and friendliness. One reviewer noted that "90% said hello or have a good night" and "all smiled and looked at me as a person not just another customer."
  4. Convenient Access: Getting to The Venue once inside the casino is described as "a breeze," contributing to a smooth experience for show-goers.

For those primarily seeking a concert or live show experience, The Venue at Horseshoe Hammond appears to be a strong contender, offering a comfortable and engaging atmosphere.

The Casino Floor: Hits and Misses 🎰

The gaming aspect of Horseshoe Hammond elicits more varied and, in some cases, critical responses. While the casino does offer a non-smoking area, which is appreciated by many, concerns have been raised:

  1. Decline in Table Games: A notable complaint from a recent visitor is the perceived disappearance of "most of the table games," with the casino floor predominantly featuring machine games. This shift may disappoint traditional table game enthusiasts.
  2. Slot Machine Payouts and Odds: Several negative experiences were reported regarding slot machine performance. Reviewers shared frustrations about bonus games rarely appearing and minimum bets being high ($2.40 to $3), leading to rapid depletion of funds. There's a strong perception among some visitors that the odds are "manipulated," especially for higher bets. One reviewer specifically advised against betting more than $0.60, as those betting higher often "got up cursing."
  3. Overall Decline: Some long-time patrons feel the casino is "going downhill these days" and suggest it's "just after customers' money," indicating a perceived decline in the overall gaming value and experience compared to previous visits.

If your primary reason for visiting is the casino floor, particularly slot machines or table games, it's worth considering these recent negative accounts regarding game availability and payout perceptions.

Amenities & Customer Service đŸ›Žī¸

Beyond gaming and entertainment, the overall amenities and service quality also draw mixed reactions:

  1. Dining Options: While the casino "no longer have a buffet," it does "still offer a variety of restaurants," providing alternative dining choices for visitors.
  2. Parking: A significant advantage mentioned by multiple reviewers is the availability of free parking in the tower. The parking garage also offers views of the Chicago skyline.
  3. ATM Fees & Staff Training: A highly negative experience was reported concerning money withdrawals. One reviewer cited a "too high" commission (over $30 for a $500 withdrawal) and a frustratingly long wait due to staff being unfamiliar with the process. This was compounded by perceived poor customer service, with staff becoming annoyed and defensive rather than helpful, leading to a feeling that the casino "doesn't even meet the minimum standards" for basic customer kindness.

Overall Impression

Horseshoe Hammond Casino presents itself as a dual-purpose entertainment hub. Its The Venue consistently delivers positive experiences for concert-goers and live show attendees, featuring great acoustics, comfortable seating, and friendly staff. However, the casino floor itself appears to be a source of frustration for some, particularly concerning the prevalence and perceived fairness of slot machines, and the reduction in table games. Additionally, issues with ATM fees and certain customer service interactions need improvement. Visitors should weigh their primary reason for visiting before heading to this Chicago-area casino.

Nice casino with a non smoking area, However they no longer have a buffet. They still offer a variety of restaurants. I went to the Venue to see Leela James. The venue is nice great seats. The concert was good.

Great time at price is right live. Fun crowd, host Ted newton was funny and engaging. Free parking in the tower and getting to the venue once inside was a breeze. I would come back here to see more shows.

I went there after about a year, and most of the table games were gone. Only machine games were left, and they were terrible. My minimum bet was $2.40 to $3. I played for 210 minutes with $2,000, and the bonus game only came out 4 times. As you can see in the picture, it was really bad. It wasn't any better than the local game rooms. This place seems to be going downhill these days. I think they're manipulating the odds. It's a really trashy place. I'll never go there again. However, the people next to me who were betting $0.60 seemed to be doing pretty well. Don't bet more than $0.60 here. Almost everyone who bet $1.20 got up cursing. The bonus didn't come out, so just in case, I bet $4.80 (2 cents) or at least $6 more than 100 times, but the bonus didn't hit.And the commission is too high. I had to withdraw $500 from my card and the commission was over $30. It took over 10 minutes to get my money back because the staff didn't know how to do it.The staff got annoyed with me because they didn't know how to withdraw money. A few minutes later, a skilled employee came and withdrew my money, but then the first employee got angry at me again and said it wasn't his fault... All I said was, "Why can't I withdraw money?" I couldn't understand why he was mad at me... The most basic thing a casino should do is be kind to customers, but instead of admitting their mistake, they tried to make excuses and blame me, the customer. This place doesn't even meet the minimum standards.I used to like this place... Now it seems like they're just after customers' money. There's a reason why businesses aren't doing as well as they used to and are declining.

Went to The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond IN last night to see Beat. Getting there we got lost twice but once we parked and got out of the 18 ° weather on The Greatest Lake, the Cadino ROCKED!!! I had no idea what a Saturday night at the Horseshoe could be!!! The Venue was very nice and I felt like I was right on the stage with the band. Sound quality top notch, seating on the first set of risers excellent 👌.Now let's talk about the staff, extremely helpful and 90% said hello or have a good night, well maybe 95%, I was too happy and excited to count. They all smiled and looked at me as a person not just another customer.I can't wait to go back to eat, drink, gamble and be Merry!!!!Thank you all for a well deserved night of fun for this nurse in The Region, born and raised!!!!!!And you can see Chicago from the free parking garage. By the way my favorite city!!!!
