Located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, just a short drive from Cincinnati, Ohio, Hollywood Casino & Hotel Lawrenceburg offers a combined gaming and lodging experience. User feedback presents a mixed picture, highlighting both commendable aspects and areas needing significant improvement, particularly concerning guest services and the casino environment.
The hotel rooms generally receive positive remarks for their spaciousness and cleanliness. Guests staying in king bed rooms noted they were quite ample, equipped with useful amenities such as a coffee maker, refrigerator, blow dryer, and even a magnified make-up mirror. Housekeeping staff were described as pleasant and helpful in some instances, ensuring a clean and quiet stay.
However, consistent issues were reported regarding front desk and housekeeping services:
The casino floor itself is described as huge and generally clean. One positive aspect highlighted was a "great ventilating system" that purportedly prevented the casino from being smoky or smelling of smoke, allowing for a more pleasant gaming experience for some. However, this point is heavily contradicted by other reviews.
A major point of contention and a significant negative for many guests is the pervasive smoke inside the casino. Despite claims of good ventilation, multiple users explicitly stated the casino is a "smokers haven," describing the smell as "terrible" and causing "allergy attacks." This suggests either inconsistent ventilation or a policy that permits smoking widely enough to impact non-smokers severely. This is a crucial factor for those sensitive to smoke or with breathing problems.
Other casino-related issues include:
One attempt to dine at the sports bar was met with significant service failures. Guests reported being told to wait at a stand for over 10-15 minutes without being acknowledged or seated by multiple passing waitresses, ultimately leading them to leave without eating.
Hollywood Casino & Hotel Lawrenceburg offers a spacious and generally clean environment for both gaming and lodging. Rooms are well-equipped and comfortable. However, the experience is significantly marred by inconsistent and often poor customer service at the front desk and dining outlets, as well as a polarizing smoking environment within the casino that is a major deterrent for many. While some might appreciate the large casino space and potentially winning, others found the service and smoke issues frustrating enough to deter future visits.
When we arrived at the front desk, there were two males working there. Nobody greeted us. They seem to be a standoff on who was going to not take care of us. The one we were standing closest to kept his head down, and never acknowledged us. Finally the second one acknowledged us , still not greeting us, but saying, I can take care of you over here ,and then the other male immediately got up and said he was going on break . this was late in the evening when we finally arrived in town. We went to the sports bar To try to get some dinner because we had missed dinner. We were greeted by what looked to be may be a security guard. He told us to wait at the stand for someone to greet us. We stood for 10 minutes. We watched more than one waitress, come in and out of the back, look our way, but never come out to get us. We walked away after About 15 minutes of standing there. The casino was nice, but we would not stay in the hotel again or attempt to eat there
We arrived and followed the hotel valet signs but after we walked into the lobby were advised they havenโt had valet parking since covid but never removed the signs. We were also surprised at the long ramp walk to the casino and restaurants. The hotel was adequate but nothing to brag about and the smoke in the casino and restaurants was terrible. We are former smokers but have issues with smoke now and breathing problems walking distances. Just wish this would have been disclosed before we booked. Probably wonโt be back
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the casino and hotel were. We had a king bed room with a sitting area. It was spacious for just the two of us. The room had a coffee maker, refrigerator, blow dryer and make-up maker (with a magnified side). The room was clean and and the housekeeping staff were pleasant and helpful. The only drawback was that the front desk staff were not very friendly. The casino was huge and very clean. We actually won some money so that was nice. They have a great ventilating system so it wasn't smoky nor did it smell of smoke. We will definitely be back!
This place is like a smokers haven. The service from bar servers never came to my section, in three hours. The casino allows smoking everywhere, so expect to smell like a bonfire and have allergy attacks. Super tight machines.
My room was clean. The floor was quiet (3rd fl). However, when I asked for housekeeping service, the porter on my floor was very naughty said, I have to call the front desk. He didn't and he wouldn't give me clean towels. I statedI already called but nobody came. When I checked out, I restated, I did not get housekeeping service. She kindly explained I had to asked for it WHEN I check in. She said it should have been offered but it wasn't.
