Luxor Hotel & Casino Guide and Review

Luxor Hotel & Casino

The Luxor Hotel & Casino, with its distinctive pyramid structure and towering Sphinx, stands as an iconic landmark on the Las Vegas Strip. Primarily a bustling casino resort, it offers a unique blend of gaming excitement, entertainment, and accommodation. This review synthesizes recent guest experiences to provide a comprehensive look at what to expect from a stay at this Egyptian-themed property.

The Overall Experience & Atmosphere ✨

Guests frequently highlight the Luxor's impressive and spacious property, noting its prime, strategic location on the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere is often praised, contributing to a lively and memorable experience. For many, the sheer scale and iconic design are major draws, providing a true Las Vegas vibe.

Accommodation: Pyramid vs. Tower Rooms 🛏️

Guest experiences regarding rooms vary. Many found their rooms to be very clean, with beds made daily and fresh towels provided. Modern conveniences like using a mobile phone as a room key are highly appreciated for their ease and efficiency. The beds themselves are often described as comfortable.

However, some guests reported issues. One user experienced a downgrade from a nicer Gold Tower room to a pyramid room, encountering problems such as unprogrammed TV remotes, terrible television quality (480p with crackling), and a lack of initial travel-sized toiletries, requiring multiple calls to housekeeping. A significant inconvenience reported was an unannounced water outage affecting a guest's room until 6 AM. Furthermore, dealing with the confusion of six different elevators within the property can be frustrating, especially for jet-lagged visitors.

Service & Staff Interactions 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Staff interactions generally receive positive feedback. Many guests describe the staff as friendly. A particular shout-out was given to Tony P from security, lauded for his great attitude, helpfulness, and joyous demeanor. Check-in and check-out processes are often cited as fast and easy, particularly with mobile check-in options.

Despite these positives, service inconsistencies were noted. One guest detailed a 20-minute wait at the front desk and a failure to inform them about a water outage, leading to wasted time and room changes. Another mentioned that service was not "that great" on a recent visit.

Casino & Entertainment 🎲🎭

As a primary casino, the Luxor offers a full gaming experience. Beyond the casino floor, the hotel is recognized for its fantastic variety of entertainment options, including lively and fun on-site shows which are often a highlight for visitors. There's a general consensus that there's no shortage of things to do, from gaming to exploring dining and leisure activities within the property. The overall "cool vibe" of the place is frequently highlighted.

Location & Navigation 🗺️

The Luxor is situated on the end of the Strip. While some find this position strategic, others found themselves needing to Uber more frequently to reach attractions further north. This can be a factor for those who prefer to walk to most major attractions.

Costs & Fees 💰

Visitors are strongly advised to be aware of hidden costs such as resort fees and resort fee taxes, which are standard for Las Vegas Strip resorts. Additionally, security deposits are collected. While some guests found it convenient to use their security deposit to charge room expenses, there were instances where the hotel attempted to collect an additional security deposit without prior notification if spending exceeded the initial deposit. Guests should be careful and clarify all charges.

Other Amenities & Considerations 🏊

One review mentioned a "play playground," suggesting family-friendly elements beyond the typical casino environment. However, a negative point raised was a dirty pool and hot tub in one instance, which is a concern for leisure amenities.

Final Thoughts 🎯

The Luxor Hotel & Casino offers a distinct and often enjoyable Las Vegas experience, particularly for those seeking an iconic stay with abundant entertainment and gaming opportunities. Its strengths lie in its unique aesthetic, efficient mobile services, and generally friendly staff. However, potential visitors should manage expectations regarding room consistency and potential service hiccups, be prepared for its location on the southern end of the Strip (possibly requiring more transportation), and meticulously account for all fees and deposits to ensure a smooth stay. Despite some reported service and room issues, many guests express a strong desire to return, solidifying its place as a popular choice for a Las Vegas adventure.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was pretty good. The hotel room we had was a two-bedroom suite. The hotel was a little older, but everything was nice. The bed was super comfortable and I was able to sleep, which was great! The bathroom was narrow and the shower was designed for people under 6ft tall. Ha. That was probably the only drawback. All the housekeepers were friendly and amazing! We stayed in the tower, not the pyramid. Now, the casino was super tight on the machines. This was easily the least amount of money we've won on a trip. I'm not sure if this was due to the economy, etc. but we shall see on our next trip. Overall, we will visit and stay here again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall, I did enjoy my time there. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was a good variety of activities available on the property. I especially appreciated the beautiful scenery and the pool area, which was a highlight of the stay. However, there were several issues that affected the experience. On the first night, the shower in our room wouldn’t drain properly, and we had to be moved to a different room the following day. The parking situation was also frustrating—there are only two levels of parking, and by the end of the night, finding a spot was extremely difficult.Dining options were another area of concern. The number of restaurants was quite limited, leaving few choices for meals. One particular experience at a bar/lounge located near the casino was disappointing. Although my party and I ordered a drink, we were told we couldn’t eat there because the food wasn’t from that specific venue—even though we were customers and had purchased a drink. The lounge had a relaxed, laid-back vibe, so the strict policy felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Additionally, the overall food court experience fell short of expectations. While I did find aspects of the hotel enjoyable, there are areas that could use improvement. I truly hope the management takes feedback like this into consideration and works toward enhancing the experience for future guests. This place has a lot of potential, and I would love to see it reach it.

I would never book this hotel again. The original room I had was much nicer; however, after waiting over 20 minutes to speak to the front desk about my room keys, no one mentioned that the water was off until 6 am! I had to get up and waste more time walking to get new keys and to another room. In the second room, the remotes weren't even programmed to the TV, and it took a while to figure out how to manually change the channel since there weren't buttons on the side. The television quality was also terrible, flat screen with 480 quality and crackling noises. There weren't any travel-sized toiletries already in the room, and I had to call housekeeping twice to get anything. I will be requesting an itemized receipt because I want to know what I actually paid for. Wasted of almost $300 and one of the pools and hot tubs was dirty. The bed was comfy and I liked the lobby decor. I also liked the play playground. I liked the interior of the gold tower room before I was downgraded to the pyramid near the blue elevators. Also, dealing with the confusion of SIX different elevators while jet lagged and sleep deprived was frustrating.

We used to really enjoy our stay at the Luxor but it has really went down. The staff is not the most friendly or helpful. Initially we were booked in the Green tower which very outdated. The shower did not drain and a piece of metal fell off the door. We requested another room the next day. We were moved to the Gold tower which was better and more up to date. Also, the soap is a very strange fragrance. The buffet is no longer there. There are very limited restaurants with very limited overpriced food and drinks. Also, we went to a bar/lounge and bought drinks but was told we could not eat our food there. It seems an exception can be made if drinks are purchased. The parking is also bad. There is not enough parking for the number of people at this hotel. There should be a multi level parking garage similar to the other hotels. There was one night we barely found a place to park. Very disappointing experience for this vacation.

We had an amazing stay at the Luxor! Rooms were clean and always stocked with our daily essentials. Fast check in and easy check out. Also, a huge shout out to Tony P who we met on the casino floor doing his rounds as security. He had such a great attitude and so helpful and just a ball of joy!! We also shared the same birthday was pretty neat! I highly recommend the Luxor for your next stay! We will definitely be back!
