Palms Casino & Truck Stop Guide and Review

Located in New Orleans, the Palms Casino & Truck Stop presents itself as a multi-faceted establishment, though user reviews primarily highlight its dining offerings. While the casino aspect is present, the adjacent restaurant, sometimes referred to as "Palms Too," consistently garners attention for its menu and service.
π½οΈ The Dining Experience
The restaurant at Palms Casino boasts an expansive menu with a wide array of choices, catering to various tastes. Patrons can find a large selection of:
- Steaks
- Seafood
- New Orleans favorites
- Sandwiches like BLTs and Chicken Avocado Paninis
Many reviewers praise the inclusion of a very nice salad bar, offering fresh options and good dressings.
Food Quality & Consistency
Overall, the food is described as good, with specific commendations for dishes like the chicken avocado panini (generous bacon and avocado), fried broccoli/brussel sprouts, and perfectly seasoned shrimp and grits. Appetizers are noted as being quite large, sometimes enough for three people. However, one reviewer noted that the "dishes are occasionally inconsistent," suggesting a varying experience depending on the visit.
Service & Speed
The wait staff is frequently described as friendly and attentive. For those in a hurry, food service can be impressively fast, with one lunch order delivered within 10 minutes. However, pickup orders have seen longer waits, such as an additional 20 minutes beyond the initial quoted time.
Pricing
Pricing at the restaurant ranges from approximately $13 up to $60 for main courses. While some reviewers find the prices very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity, others feel they are "very high for what you get," leading to mixed opinions on value.
Atmosphere
Despite the restaurant not always being directly connected to the casino floor, there is a consistent observation of a slight smell of cigarette smoke permeating the dining area. For those seeking a quiet meal, Sunday lunch around 11:30 AM was noted as not busy, though it started to pick up by 12:30 PM.
π Casino & Truck Stop Facilities
As a truck stop, the facility offers overnight truck parking for $10, making it a convenient stop for truckers. While the casino itself is present and "right next-door" to the restaurant, specific details or reviews about the gaming experience are scarce in the provided feedback, with some patrons only having visited the restaurant.
Summary of Feedback
- π Pros: Expansive menu with diverse options, good salad bar, friendly and attentive service, fast food delivery (sometimes), generous portions, convenient overnight truck parking.
- π Cons: Occasional inconsistency in food quality, perceived high prices by some, slight cigarette smoke smell in the restaurant, potential for longer waits on pickup orders.
Conclusion
The Palms Casino & Truck Stop primarily stands out for its restaurant, offering a substantial menu with a blend of New Orleans favorites and classic American fare. While the dining experience generally receives positive remarks for its service and quality, potential diners should be aware of possible inconsistencies and the lingering scent of smoke. For truckers, it offers a practical and affordable overnight parking solution with dining options readily available. It appears to be a solid choice for those seeking a meal with a diverse menu in the New Orleans area, particularly if the casino aspect is a secondary interest.

I ate at the restaurant next-door, which is called the Palms Too, the service was fantastic and the food was good. I will be stopping here again. The casino is right next-door. Iβve never been in it.
Ordered a chicken avocado panini and fried broccoli/brussel sprouts for pickup at lunch. Told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and waited an additional 20 minutes. That is why 4 stars. The food was very good. The chicken on the panini was very tasty and the don't skimp on the bacon and avocado! The combo broccoli/spouts were very good as well!
Overnight truck parking is $10, there is a restaurant in the casino with a great menu. The quality and quantity of the menu items is great as the prices are very reasonable. The appetizers are large enough for 3, the shrimp and grits are seasoned perfectly, and the creamed spinach is wonderful. I will definitely be back to work through the rest of the menu.
