Diamond's Casino

Diamond's Casino in Reno, Nevada, presents a truly mixed bag of experiences, often described as a quintessential "hole-in-the-wall" establishment. While it holds a certain charm for some, particularly those seeking a more gritty, local casino vibe, potential visitors should be aware of its distinct pros and cons. It's certainly not a family-friendly destination, so leave the kids at home.

The Culinary Experience: A Shining Star 🍔đŸĨ§

Perhaps the most consistent praise for Diamond's Casino revolves around its food. The diner attached to the casino is frequently lauded as one of Reno's best-kept culinary secrets. Reviewers highlight:

  1. The cheeseburgers are exceptional, with one reviewer specifically mentioning an "amazing double cheeseburger with seasoned fries."
  2. Desserts, such as cherry pie, also receive high marks.
  3. The diner is hailed as "one of the best hidden gems in all of Reno" and the "best grease bucket in the biggest little" – a strong endorsement for its satisfying, classic diner fare.
  4. New additions like pizza and pies are also noted.

If you're in Reno and looking for a surprisingly good, unpretentious meal, Diamond's Casino's diner seems to be the place to find it. Just be sure to "bring your appetite!"

Gaming: A Gamble with Diminishing Returns 🎰📉

The casino floor itself, however, tells a different story. Gamblers frequently express significant frustration with the gaming experience:

  1. Many reviewers report struggling to win, with one user losing $45 without a single bonus round.
  2. There's a strong sentiment that the machines have very poor payout rates, with some feeling "ripped off," losing hundreds of dollars in minutes without any significant playtime.
  3. The slot machines are often described as outdated, with one comment noting they "look 30 years old in general."
  4. It's noted that Nevada regulations do not require payout rate signs to be posted, which can leave players in the dark.

This suggests that Diamond's Casino might not be the place for those seeking prolonged entertainment or a high chance of a payout, leading to a general feeling of "no fun" for some patrons.

Atmosphere & Safety Concerns âš ī¸

The general ambiance and safety aspects of Diamond's Casino draw significant criticism, painting a picture that might deter many visitors:

  1. The casino is described as attracting a challenging clientele, with mentions of "nothing but homeless and some of Reno's finest citizen."
  2. Concerns about personal security are raised, with advice to "definitely make sure to lock your vehicle before going inside."
  3. A particularly alarming detail is the mention of restroom stall doors being "cut in half so security can look in on you," raising serious privacy concerns.
  4. Despite efforts by a new General Manager to fix up the place, the improvements are deemed insufficient, and it's reported that many "high end players" have left and will not return.
  5. The casino can feel like a "ghost town," even on a Saturday night, suggesting a significant decline in patronage.

While the Ramada attached is a plus for some, these atmosphere and safety issues significantly detract from the overall appeal.

The People Behind the Counter: A Glimmer of Hope ✨

Despite the various drawbacks, the staff at Diamond's Casino consistently receive positive remarks. Both the cocktail servers and bartenders are praised as "good people." One reviewer even explicitly states they are giving a 2-star rating largely "because the staff there are really good people who deserve better." This indicates a dedicated and friendly team working in an otherwise struggling environment.

Overall Verdict: Know Before You Go

Diamond's Casino appears to be a local spot primarily appealing to those who appreciate its specific, no-frills character and, more importantly, its highly-rated diner food. If you're looking for a top-tier gaming experience with modern machines and high payout rates, or if you prioritize a family-friendly, secure, and private environment, Diamond's Casino may not meet your expectations. However, if you're an adult seeking a "hole-in-the-wall" experience, a quick gamble, and especially a fantastic cheeseburger, it might be worth a stop – just be mindful of your surroundings and temper your gaming expectations.

Couldn't win here. Lost $7 on Wednesday May 21, 2025. Tried again on Friday, May 23rd, 2025. Lost $45, without one bonus round, I believe. Machines look 30 years old in general. Payout rate signs don't have to be posted in Nevada, I learned. Maybe others might have better luck. Was no fun.

Not an ideal place to bring the misses and little ones. Definitely make sure to lock your vehicle before going inside and if you plan on using the restroom, don't be surprised when you walk in and see that the stall doors have been cut in half so security can look in on you. On the other hand, the food is SUPER good! Would absolutely recommend trying their cheeseburgers! I also noticed they started serving pizza and pies just recently.

One of the hole-in-the-wall Casino's that just could make you a couple hundred to a thousand extra dollars on your trip to Reno you weren't expecting. Not a family place, so leave the kids at home. The diner is one of the best hidden gems in all of Reno. Don't forget to bring your appetite! Best grease bucket in the biggest little. Ramada attached is also a plus.

If want to get ripped off don't go here, there is nothing but homeless and some of Reno's finest citizen in here. The cocktail servers and Bartenders are good people but there is nothing good about this place, you can lose 200-300 dollars in a matter of 10-15 minutes and never get one second of play out of the machines, the new GM spent a bunch of money trying to fix the place up but its still terrible and they have ran off most of the high end players that I have been told by them personally they will never return no matter what they do. I have a feeling that with in the next year this place will close down, I went in there the other day on a Saturday night and it was a ghost town, Major changes need to be made to bring this place back to what it once was a friendly fun local place to hang out. I'm only giving a 2 star because the staff there are really good people who deserve better.
