The Silver Legacy Resort Hotel & Casino stands as a prominent fixture in downtown Reno, Nevada, primarily known for its extensive casino offerings and integrated resort experience. Drawing from recent guest feedback, this establishment generally garners a positive reception, often highlighted for its exceptional service and central location, though some aspects suggest room for modernization.
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Silver Legacy is its commitment to hospitality and guest service. Many visitors laud the staff for being "second to none" and "oh so friendly." This dedication is particularly evident in their handling of large-scale events.
For instance, a recent review from a convention host praised the "exceptional service and hospitality" received during their 77th Annual Convention. Specific individuals like Nafiz Ahmed, a front desk manager, were commended for their professionalism, patience, and leadership, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees. Similarly, Melissa from the banquet and beverage team received high marks for flawlessly executing meal services, from coffee breaks to full-course dinners, demonstrating efficiency and care even with large groups. This level of responsiveness and organization makes Silver Legacy a highly recommended venue for organizations planning significant events.
Guests often find the hotel's accommodations spacious, with standard rooms like the "double queen" being described as "quite large." While the rooms are generally clean, some guests noted that you "can feel the age of the hotel room as a few things are getting old," suggesting that updates may be beneficial to stay competitive with newer resorts.
A significant draw of the Silver Legacy is its integrated resort concept, offering direct access to three casinos without needing to leave the building. This convenience extends to dining, with "quite a few dinner options" available on-site. For recreation, the hotel provides a well-equipped gym with all necessary equipment. The outdoor pool, while available, was noted as being "a bit cold" for some guests. Another highly appreciated feature is the convenient free parking, a significant plus for visitors to downtown Reno. The beds are frequently highlighted as "ultra comfy and affordable."
As a primary casino destination, Silver Legacy offers a vast array of games. However, recent feedback indicates mixed feelings regarding the gaming floor itself. While there are "lots of casino games to play," some players expressed concern over the "tightness" of the machines. One specific complaint centered on the keno machines, which now have a minimum bet of $.50, quickly diminishing smaller amounts of "free play" and making the experience less worthwhile for casual gamblers or those with limited funds. This has led some to suggest that other local casinos like Atlantis or GSR might offer a better gambling experience if winning is the primary goal, advising visitors to "take lots of money" if they wish to gamble here.
Beyond the casino floor's payouts, a few other points were raised by guests:
The Silver Legacy Resort Hotel & Casino offers a strong overall experience, particularly excelling in its customer service and ability to host large conventions. Its central location, convenient amenities like free parking and multiple dining options, and integrated casino access make it a solid choice for those seeking a comprehensive resort stay in Reno. While the hotel rooms show some signs of age and the casino machines might be a bit stingy for some players, the exceptional staff and overall hospitality largely compensate, making it a good pick for a stay in the heart of Reno.
5 Stars – Exceptional Service During Our ConventionThe Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Department of Nevada hosted our 77th Annual Convention at the Silver Legacy Resort in Reno from May 1–5, 2025. The service and hospitality we received were truly exceptional. We want to highlight Nafiz Ahmed, one of the front desk managers, whose professionalism, patience, and leadership made a big impact. He went above and beyond to ensure every one of our Veterans had a smooth, welcoming experience. His team followed his lead, and it showed in the quality of service across the board. We also want to recognize Melissa from the banquet and beverage team. From coffee service to full-course meals and our final awards banquet, everything was handled flawlessly. Her team delivered delicious meals with efficiency and care—no small feat given the size of our group and the packed schedule. The staff throughout the resort were responsive, organized, and genuinely committed to providing top-tier service. Thanks to their efforts, this was one of the most successful and enjoyable conventions we’ve held.We highly recommend the Silver Legacy Resort for any organization planning a large-scale event. The level of professionalism and attention to detail is unmatched. Thank you to the entire Silver Legacy team for treating our Veterans with such respect and excellence.
Stayed there for only one night. The room was quite large (it was double queen). While everything was clean you can feel the age of the hotel room as a few things are getting old. The pool is outside and it was a bit cold for us to enjoy. The gym has all the equipments you could need given its size. Three casinos are accessible without leaving the hotel and there are quite a few dinner options. Overall a good pick if you want to stay in the center of Reno. Bonus: the free parking is also very convenient!
It’s a nice hotel with lots of casino games to play. My only complaint is that I usually with my free play will play keno. However now all the keno machines are minimum bet of .50 and when you only have $5 free play it goes fast. Walking 15-20 minutes from home to get here and can only play for about 3-5 minutes and then the walk back home because I usually don’t win anything is hardly worth it. The machines are usually super tight so if you go take lots of money (because you can win on the rare occasion) or gamble elsewhere like Atlantis or GSR. The hotel itself is wonderful but the casino not as much.
The staff were second to none. Reno turns it right with with hospitality. Would be great if there was more promotional materials about things to do in the area to attract more tourists. The staff are oh so friendly and the beds are ultra comfy and affordable. Used my room safe after reading about the recent accusation about staff related thefts. Hope that gets sorted soon.... but our experience was amazing.
Nice having access to all 3 casinos. You don't have to leave the building for anything. The games are pretty much the same everywhere. With so many new resorts opening up Silver Legacy has some competition, they may have to do some major up grades to keep up.
