Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles Guide and Review

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles, situated in the St. Louis area, United States, is a multifaceted establishment primarily known for its casino, complemented by resort and spa amenities. This review synthesizes recent guest feedback to offer a comprehensive understanding of what visitors can anticipate from this venue.
The Positives: A Glimpse into Luxury and Convenience ✨
Many guests have highlighted several appealing aspects of their stay, emphasizing the updated facilities and diverse amenities that contribute to a pleasant experience.
Accommodation: Renovated Rooms and River Views 🏨
A consistent point of praise from recent visitors centers on the newly renovated king rooms, often described as "stunning." Guests frequently appreciate the beautiful views of the Missouri River available from these rooms, enhancing the overall aesthetic and relaxation of their stay. The generous size and thoughtful setup of the rooms also receive positive mentions, contributing to guest comfort.
Dining Experiences: Variety and Quality 🍽️
The resort offers several dining options that have garnered favorable reviews. The Salted Lime restaurant is specifically noted for its "delicious" dinner offerings and quick service. Similarly, breakfast at Copper Whisk has been commended for its quality. A unique and memorable experience for one visitor was being served by a robot waitress, adding a modern and distinctive touch to the dining experience.
Casino and Entertainment: Fun and Winnings 🎰
As expected for a casino resort, the gaming floor is a significant attraction. Guests have described the casino as "so nice" and have enjoyed their time, with some even reporting modest winnings, which naturally contributes to a positive overall impression.
Conference Facilities: Professional and Elegant Events 🤝
For those utilizing Ameristar for business purposes, the conference facilities receive high recommendations. Reviews suggest an "exceptional experience" for conferences, with staff demonstrating notable professionalism and attentiveness. The facilities themselves are deemed "top-notch," equipped with modern technology and spacious seating arrangements that foster productivity and collaboration. The catering services and the venue's elegant ambiance further contribute to successful and memorable events.
Overall Resort Convenience: Everything You Need 🛍️
The sentiment that "everything you need is at the resort" is a strong endorsement, indicating that Ameristar aims to provide a self-contained and convenient environment for its guests, minimizing the need to leave the property for amenities.
Areas for Improvement: Service and Facility Hiccups 🚧
Despite the positive feedback, several guests have voiced significant concerns, primarily revolving around customer service policies and maintenance issues, which have notably impacted their stays.
Customer Service and Early Check-in Policy 📉
A major point of dissatisfaction for multiple guests is a perceived shift in management's approach, which some describe as having "traded customer service for greed." A prominent issue cited is the policy of charging a substantial fee (around $85-$86) for early check-in, even when rooms are reportedly available. This policy, combined with descriptions of "cold and unwelcoming" front desk staff lacking empathy, has left guests feeling frustrated and undervalued.
Pool and Hot Tub Disappointments 🥶
A significant letdown for several guests expecting leisure amenities was the condition and accessibility of the swimming facilities. Reports include the pool being "ice cold" and hot tubs "inoperable." More critically, one guest who booked specifically for the indoor pool arrived to find it "closed for the season," with insufficient prior notification, leading to a "derailed" vacation experience.
Inconsistent Restaurant Service 🏃♀️
While some dining experiences were positive, one review highlighted a specific issue at the breakfast restaurant by the fountain, where a perceived lack of servers resulted in a single employee at the register struggling to keep up with customer demand.
Room Maintenance and Noise Issues 🔊
Technical issues within rooms, such as televisions with "barely audible sound" or "static on every channel," have been reported, with attempts to seek assistance from the front desk proving unsuccessful. Additionally, noise disturbances from other guests, specifically "kids running above our room late into the night," have been cited as disrupting sleep and overall comfort.
Conclusion: A Beautiful Venue with Service Challenges ⚖️
Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles presents itself as an aesthetically pleasing and amenity-rich destination, featuring newly renovated rooms, diverse dining options, a vibrant casino, and excellent conference facilities. However, recent guest experiences suggest a notable decline in customer service, particularly concerning restrictive early check-in fees and a perceived lack of staff empathy. Furthermore, maintenance issues with key amenities like the pool and in-room entertainment have significantly impacted some guests' satisfaction. While the resort offers many appealing attributes, potential visitors should be mindful of these reported inconsistencies in service and facility upkeep, which may influence their overall experience.
I have been to Ameristar many times in the past. The facility is beautiful but things have changed with the management. They have traded customer service for greed. I arrived early and was told i would have to pay an extra amount to go to the room which ended up to be $86. the room was empty but I was told it was held in case a high roller showed up. I asked would they give my room away- they said no. In essence they charge by the hour if you come early. this is not a good look for such a fine facility. the restaurant by the fountain has no servers for breakfast only a poor employee at the register who had to run like crazy to keep up. I was told the pool and hot tub were open- the pool was ice cold and the hot tubs were inoperable. I asked to use the room early so I could go swimming which is why I asked for and was refused to get my $86 back. There were also other policies put in place to save a buck. Such a shame for a beautiful place lkie this to have poor customer relations. At this point i would not recommend anybody to stay here.
We really enjoyed our stay! The newly renovated king rooms are stunning, and we had a beautiful view of the Missouri River. Dinner at the Salted Lime was delicious, and the service was quick. Breakfast the next morning at Copper Whisk was also very good. Would definitely stay here again!
The Ameristar Casino Resort Spa provided an exceptional experience for our conference. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring every detail was taken care of. The conference facilities were top-notch, equipped with modern technology and spacious seating arrangements that fostered productivity and collaboration. The catering services were equally impressive, offering a variety of delicious options that catered to diverse dietary needs. The ambiance of the venue added a touch of elegance, making our event feel both professional and memorable.Overall, the Ameristar exceeded our expectations and played a significant role in the success of our conference. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a venue that combines luxury, functionality, and outstanding service.
The property is amazing. Our room was outstanding and the food at our banquet was wonderful. The only disappointment was with some of the staff. They were not particularly helpful, seemingly unwilling to go out of their way to assist one of our party who had had an accident in the afternoon. A little courtesy and consideration would have gone a long way.
You’d think after spending $350 generally per night, and we stayed for two. That they would have daily house keeping service for your room with fresh sheets and towels. If they do we didn’t receive it.(no we didn’t have our “do not disturb” sign on the door) We asked about room service they told us they didn’t have any. We asked for a non smoking room, as we were staying with our child for a friend’s wedding. The room reeked of smoke. We had gotten a bottle of wine for after the wedding and asked for wine glasses at the desk. They told us they don’t have any and couldn’t send any to the room and offered paper cups….? Like what? I’ve stayed at cheaper, more basic hotels that could send wine classes… Lastly, We asked the front for some local breakfast recommendations they recommended Denys, McDonalds, or Waffle House….The front desk was absolutely useless beyond checking in… We will not stay here again…
