Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, Tunica

Located in Tunica Resorts, United States, Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall offers a varied experience for its guests, blending classic hotel charm with the excitement of a casino. Recent reviews paint a picture of a destination with both notable strengths and areas needing significant attention.

The Upsides: Service, Charm, and Casino Fun ✨

Many visitors appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff at Sam's Town. The hotel is often praised for its "old style Hotel charm" and quick check-in process. Guests have reported that rooms are generally clean and comfortable, providing a pleasant stay.

The casino floor, while occasionally noted for being quiet, offers a selection of "new slot machines". One enthusiastic reviewer highlighted the casino's "entertainment value and service", describing it as "plain fun" and a "comfortable and enjoyable" place to spend time and entertainment dollars. Specific praise was given to outstanding beverage servers and a friendly host, emphasizing a feeling of being a "favored guest" throughout the visit.

For dining, Smoky Joe's restaurant received positive feedback for its good food, adding to the overall experience.

Areas for Improvement: Cleanliness, Amenities, and Casino Experience ⚠️

Despite the positives, several recurring issues surface in recent reviews. A significant concern raised by multiple guests revolves around cleanliness and smoking policies. One particularly strong critique described the place as "very nasty," with "rude" smokers and "nasty ashtrays everywhere," strongly suggesting the need for a designated smoking area for non-smokers.

Another major point of contention is the accuracy of advertised amenities. One frustrated guest reported that the hotel advertises a pool that does not exist. Furthermore, issues with room quality were noted, including a dirty room and a non-functional TV. Recreational amenities like pool tables were found to be missing essential equipment (cue balls), and dartboards lacked tips for the flyers.

Regarding the casino itself, while some lauded favorable winning odds, others reported that the "machines were definitely not paying" and that the casino floor felt "dead" with very few people. This suggests an inconsistent casino experience for visitors, impacting both the atmosphere and the perception of payouts.

Summary for Potential Visitors ⚖️

Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall appears to be a destination with a strong foundation in hospitality and a classic aesthetic that many enjoy. The friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and the entertainment value of the casino are frequently highlighted as reasons for repeat visits. However, potential visitors should be aware of inconsistencies, particularly regarding advertised amenities (such as a pool), room maintenance, and the significant issue of pervasive smoking and overall cleanliness as reported by some. The casino's atmosphere and payout perceptions also vary among guests. It seems that a visit to Sam's Town can range from a highly enjoyable, comfortable experience to one plagued by frustrations over cleanliness and misrepresented facilities.

Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Hotel checkin was quick. The casino itself was dead. There wasn't very many people at all and the machines were definitely not paying. We ate at Smoky Joe's and it was good food.

Room was damp, felt like sheets were wet, front desk actually like they didn't care. I asked a question at front desk and lady had a attitude made you feel unwelcome. I will not stay there again

Won't stay here again. When I arrivedthere was 1 person in front of me it literally took 45 minutes to get waited on to get my room. When I reserved room I used debit card to hold. When I checked in I used my credit card, both cards were charged full price. Then I hardly got any sleep because the mattress was wore out and springs poked me all night. If you want to have a good time and rest well I don't recommend this place.

I had the worst experience at this hotel. First upon arriving we checked in and went to our room. The room had crumbs all over the floor and ashes on the chairs. Mirrors were dirty and toilet seat was broke. Very calm I took all my luggage back down to the lobby. They told me they could have another room available in about an hour ( no biggie, wasn’t planning on sitting in the room at that moment anyway ). Hours later I got my hotel keys and attempted to get into my room. The door wouldn’t open. For the second time I had to grab my luggage and go to the front desk. I got another room and was able to get in this time. I pulled back the blankets and saw some odd large stain on the sheet. Handprints on the head bored. Filthy mirrors. ( pictures attached ). I then decided to leave the hotel completely, and drive back to St. Louis. It was my first and last time I’ll ever attempt to stay at Sam’s town in tunica. I would give them less than one star if I could.

I'll never go back there again. Sam was rude, new lady at front desk, horrible. They have no compassion for no one. My husband had cancer, we had a comp room. Front desk said they were booked full. We could not use it. They will keep all your 50 dollar deposit. Check with the BBB ask them some questions. DO NOT GO THERE.
