The Star Brisbane, located in the heart of Brisbane, Australia, aims to offer a premium casino and resort experience. While it certainly delivers on luxury and stunning aesthetics in many areas, recent visitor feedback reveals a mixed picture, balancing opulent comfort with notable service and operational challenges.
Guests consistently praise the hotel's accommodation, describing rooms as spotlessly clean, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. The River View Superior rooms are highlighted for their breathtaking views, contributing to a genuine five-star feel. Beds are plush, and the decor is elegant, ensuring a comfortable stay for both couples and families, with bathrooms large enough to accommodate multiple guests.
A definite highlight for many is the sauna and spa area. It's lauded as beautifully designed, modern, and incredibly relaxing. The pristine steam and sauna rooms, coupled with the bliss of soaking in the spa while enjoying city views, provide a perfect escape and way to unwind. The hotel's pools and grounds are also described as simply beautiful, adding to the resort's luxurious appeal.
The Star Brisbane boasts plenty of restaurants to choose from, offering variety, especially noted for family-friendly breakfast options. Guests appreciated finding large dining areas with great views, such as at the back of the sports bar. The premises are well-equipped with plenty of bars and quality restaurants, often complemented by live music bands, creating a lively atmosphere. A lounge area with live music offers a nice soft atmosphere, providing a welcome reprieve from the main casino noise.
However, the dining experience has room for improvement. Some reviewers found the restaurant choices limited to either very expensive options or bar-style seating with high stools, indicating a lack of diversity, such as a casual cafe with lower seating and smaller meals. Furthermore, some dining places were observed to be closed for private events.
The casino floor itself is described as an excellent venue full of opulence, featuring marble tables and modern furnishings. While some visitors had a "great" time checking out the facilities, others expressed cynicism regarding winning probabilities, citing the casino's reported financial challenges.
Without a doubt, a universal high point for visitors is the Skydeck on the top floor. Offering breathtaking views of Brisbane, it's frequently cited as the best part of the experience. The lifts leading up to it are noted for being spacious and very fast, making the journey to this panoramic viewpoint seamless.
Despite its luxurious offerings, several recurring concerns temper the overall positive experience:
The Star Brisbane undeniably offers a luxurious and visually stunning environment, particularly within its hotel, spa facilities, and the standout Skydeck. The attentive and welcoming staff in the hotel contribute significantly to a positive stay. However, the experience is somewhat marred by practical issues such as expensive parking and, more critically, inconsistent and often subpar service at the bars, compounded by high prices for food and drinks. While the opulence is clear, visitors should manage expectations regarding service efficiency and consider the overall value proposition, especially for non-gaming aspects.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Star Brisbane – a perfect mix of luxury, comfort, and stunning views. The highlight was definitely the sauna and spa area. It’s beautifully designed, modern, and incredibly relaxing. The steam and sauna rooms were pristine, and soaking in the spa while looking out over the city was pure bliss – the perfect way to unwind after a day out.Our River View Superior room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was plush, the decor was elegant, and the view was just breathtaking. It truly felt like a five-star experience. The staff were fantastic – from reception to housekeeping, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. However, the parking was way too expensive – a real downside considering the premium rate of the River View Superior room. For a hotel of this standard, parking should absolutely be included, or at least discounted for hotel guests. It felt excessive and took away slightly from an otherwise great experience. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would still recommend The Star Brisbane for its spa, comfort, and exceptional service – just be prepared for the extra parking cost.
Our stay at the Star was very enjoyable. The rooms are very spacious and beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was big enough for the 2 adults and 2 grandchildren. We also enjoyed breakfast each morning with the grandchildren with plenty of variety for them both. Lots of restaurants to choose from and the pools and grounds were simply beautiful. Plenty to do there.
Excellent venue full of opulence duch marbled tables, modern furnishings etc. Visited this casino for the first time with my close friend. We definitely had an amazing time checking out the facilities. Plenty of bars, quality restauran within the premises and more importantly live music band. Pretty mixed experience. The bartender at the VIP area was a bit grumpy. My girlfriend was a gold member. I saw her play at tge dable and then later moved to playing the pokies- she didn't win. Why would she win- the casino itself is already embroiled in overspending and overbudget abd the brink of going under Administration. So owe a lot of money. The likelihood of winning at this casino is pretty bleak. But needless to say my experience at the Skydeck on the top floor of the casino. IThe Skydeck was the best- with breathtaking views of Brisbane. 🥰🥰🥰
This place is rubbish and not worth the over priced drinks and food on offer. Service was incredibly slow and low quality at every bar, ques were at least 20m long with 2 staff serving in large bars on a busy Sat night, one side of a cocktail bar was closed with ques on the other side of the bar seriously long. Tables were sticky and full of used glasses and dishes. Staff seemed so disinterested to be working there and seemed to have little skill or training in effective work flow. New casino is nothing like the old one. Find a little lane way bar and spend your money there instead.
Absolutely gorgeous views from up on the sky deck. The lifts are spacious and very fast. The restaurants are lacking. You have a choice of either very expensive, or bar style with high bar stools. Today the 3rd dining place was closed for an event. A Cafe with lower seats and smaller meals would be amazing. The casino was great! We ended up eating there at the back of the sports bar where we found a large dining area with windows seats with great views. After lunch we sat in a bar lounge listening to live music. It was a really nice soft atmosphere, a reprieve from the casino noise! Well worth the visit.
