Country Club Tasmania, located in Launceston, Australia, offers a multi-faceted experience, primarily known for its casino and resort amenities. User reviews highlight a mix of commendable service and facilities, alongside areas that could benefit from significant improvements. Overall, it appears to be a destination with potential, but an inconsistent guest experience.
Based on recent user feedback, the Country Club Tasmania garners a mixed reception. While some guests praise exceptional service and enjoyable activities, others report significant disappointments, particularly concerning accommodation quality and service issues. The average rating from the provided reviews is approximately 3 out of 5 stars.
Many guests consistently praise the staff for their attentiveness, friendliness, and warm hospitality. Instances of staff going "above and beyond" are noted, particularly in making family experiences enjoyable. For example, staff members Gabby, Maddie, and 'D' were lauded for their incredible kindness and patience during pony rides, even helping anxious children feel at ease.
The food at Country Club Tasmania is generally well-regarded, with specific mention of "decent and good value" meals. The Links restaurant, in particular, received high praise for its "perfect" and "excellent" food and great service.
Rooms are often described as commendably clean, contributing to a pleasant initial impression for some guests.
The availability of activities like pony rides is a significant draw for families, with the experience described as "exceptional" due to the dedicated and compassionate staff.
A major point of contention for some guests is the inconsistency in staff professionalism and handling of issues. A notable incident involved a guest being charged extra for breakfast despite their booking confirmation clearly stating it was included for all. While one staff member (Matt) eventually resolved the "glitch," the initial rude and unhelpful responses from others (Connor, Steve) caused significant frustration and embarrassment. This suggests a need for better communication and training regarding booking discrepancies and customer service.
Despite cleanliness, several reviews indicate that the rooms are significantly dated and in urgent need of refurbishment. Complaints include "filthy, worn out carpet" and an "old, poorly maintained" overall condition, leading some guests to feel the accommodation was more akin to a "budget motel" than a club, especially given the price point.
Guests have reported issues with external noise, such as loud vibrations from a steamroller re-doing a road outside rooms during the afternoon, severely disrupting their stay. Attempts to change rooms were met with unhelpful responses, citing the hotel as "fully booked" even when floors appeared empty.
While the food and service at restaurants like Links are praised, the payment process can be problematic. Long waits (e.g., 35 minutes) due to split bills, coupons, and arguments over drink charges on bills were reported. Suggestions were made for more efficient methods, such as payment upon entry or mobile EFTPOS for drinks, to improve the guest experience.
Country Club Tasmania presents itself as a versatile destination offering entertainment and hospitality. Its strengths lie in its generally warm and attentive staff, good food, and specific family-friendly offerings. However, the experience is significantly marred by inconsistencies in service, particularly regarding booking issues and problem resolution, and the notably dated condition of some of its accommodation. Guests seeking a smooth, modern, and consistently high-quality hotel experience may find themselves disappointed, while those focused on specific activities or a pleasant dining experience might have a more positive outcome. Improvements in room renovations, staff training on problem-solving, and streamlined operational processes could greatly elevate the overall guest satisfaction at this Launceston establishment.
Our stay at Country Club Tasmania offered a pleasant experience, largely thanks to the excellent service from the staff, who were consistently attentive and friendly. The food we enjoyed was decent and good value. While the rooms were commendably clean, they did feel a little dated and could benefit from a refresh to match modern expectations. Overall, a solid choice with warm hospitality and cleanliness.
My two sons and I visited the country club to enjoy the pony rides, and the experience was exceptional. Gabby, Maddie, and βDβ were incredibly kind and patient. One of my sons was especially anxious, but the staff went above and beyond to help him feel at ease. They allowed him to feed the ponies carrots and made him feel involved by letting him help collect hay. Their compassion, patience, and kindness were truly remarkable. Weβll definitely be back!
I am absolutely appalled by the shocking experience I had at this hotel. We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child, with breakfast included, but when we went to the restaurant for breakfast, Connor, the staff member there, informed us that the breakfast had only been paid for 2 adults and that we would need to pay extra for our child. This was completely unexpected and unacceptable. When I showed the booking confirmation at reception, which clearly indicated that the final price paid for the room INCLUDED breakfast for all three of us, Steve, the receptionist, was not only unhelpful but downright rude. He insisted that they had only received payment for 2 adults and demanded we pay for the child if we wanted her to eat. His attitude was arrogant and dismissive, making me feel as though I was asking for something for free. The whole situation was embarrassing and unnecessary, especially when I had already paid for the breakfast as part of my booking.Fortunately, Matt, another staff member, finally stepped in, logged into their Booking.com interface, confirmed there had been a glitch, and made the necessary arrangements for the breakfast. But this should NEVER have happened in the first place. The lack of professionalism, the rudeness, and the failure to address the issue promptly was infuriating. To make matters worse, the room quality was very shady. The carpet was filthy, worn out, and in desperate need of replacement. The overall condition of the room was old, poorly maintained, and not at all what I expected for the price. It felt more like a budget motel than a club. This experience has left me thoroughly disgusted, and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The poor service, lack of proper communication, and substandard facilities have ensured that I wonβt be returning. Avoid this hotel at all costs.
We are trying to have an afternoon nap at 3:30pm and the noise and vibration from a steam roller re doing a road outside our room is terrible. Asked to change rooms and was told the hotel is fully booked. Have not seen 1 person on our floor.
Dinner at Links restaurant...perfect. food excellent. Service great. BUT id suggest dinner be paid for on entry....and drink orders paid for on delivery to table with a mobile eftpos machine. We waited 35 minutes to leave because of split bills and coupons/vouchers etc and argued about drinks on split bills..the poor girl behind the till should not have to deal with that....
