Crown Melbourne, situated on the picturesque banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia, stands as a premier entertainment and gaming complex. While its primary identity is a casino, this sprawling establishment offers a vast array of experiences, including luxury accommodation, diverse dining options, live entertainment, and unique attractions, making it a central hub for leisure in the city.
Overall Experience: A Grand and Diverse Destination đ
Based on recent visitor feedback, Crown Melbourne consistently receives high praise for its comprehensive offerings and vibrant atmosphere. Reviewers frequently highlight the sheer scale of the establishment and the abundance of activities available, indicating a highly satisfying experience for most visitors.
Highlights and What to Expect â¨
Visitors to Crown Melbourne can look forward to a multifaceted experience, characterized by several key strengths:
- Exceptional Culinary Delights: The dining experience at Crown is a significant draw. Many reviewers rave about restaurants like The Conservatory, specifically praising its buffet lunch for "fantastic" fresh seafood, a great selection of roast meats and Indian dishes, and an "excellent" sweets bar. Beyond buffets, the complex is lauded for its "plenty of eating options," catering to a wide range of palates.
- Dynamic Entertainment & Gaming: As a leading casino, Crown features "lots and lots of machines" and a bustling gaming floor. Access is noted as "easy to get in" without cumbersome sign-in procedures. Beyond the casino, the complex frequently hosts live band music, enhancing the lively evening atmosphere, and offers diverse activities ensuring "lots to do."
- Scenic Riverside Location & Unique Attractions: Positioned along the Yarra River, Crown Melbourne offers not only excellent views but also ample opportunities for leisurely strolls along the river bank, even for those not planning to visit the casino. A notable attraction is the "Pyro show," which one reviewer found "fun to see for the first time." For a sweet treat, visitors will be pleased to find a nearby spot serving "real good flavors" of gelato.
- High Standards of Service & Facilities: The professionalism of the staff is frequently commended, particularly for their adept handling of situations involving patrons, such as intoxicated customers. Facilities like the toilets are consistently described as "great and clean," contributing to a comfortable and pleasant visit.
Points for Consideration (Regarding Hotel Stays) đ¨
While the broader entertainment complex garners overwhelming positive reviews, one specific review concerning a hotel stay within Crown offered some points for consideration:
- Limited Room Amenities: One guest noted that their hotel room had "very limited" amenities, specifically mentioning a lack of cutlery beyond a couple of spoons.
- Air Conditioning Concerns: A significant issue raised was with the room's air conditioning, which reportedly struggled to cool the room adequately, remaining "way too hot" even when set to the lowest temperature.
- Hotel-Specific Dining: The review indicated that a particular hotel within Crown might only have one restaurant open for breakfast, though it acknowledged connections to other Crown facilities which offer more dining choices.
It's important to differentiate these specific concerns, which primarily relate to the hotel accommodation aspect, from the generally highly-rated casino, dining, and entertainment offerings of the Crown complex.
Conclusion: A Must-Visit Melbourne Icon đ

Nice place to visit but nothing much to do there. Main attraction is the casino. There are some shops such as holey moley, seed, cinema village (with every Tuesday that tickets are on 50% off). Food court consists of MacDonald, KFC, subway and a Chinese Bar (with ale carte food dishes). Weekdays were quiet. Perhaps weekends will be crowded.
The buffet lunch at The Conservatory was fantastic! The seafood was fresh and there was a great selection. The roast meats and Indian dishes were very good. The sweets bar was excellent. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was excellent with excellent views of the Yarra River. Five stars!
Loved it!! Been to Melbourne many times but this time visited the Crown. Huge establishment, easy to get in as you don't need to sign in with lots and lots of machines. Highly recommended as there's lots to do and plenty of eating options
Great place to take a stroll by the river bank even if you're not planning to visit the casino. Pyro show was fun to see for the first time too!If you like gelato, you'd be pleased to know there's one along the sides that serves real good flavors.
