Asquith Club Guide and Review

Nestled in the heart of Sydney, the Asquith Club stands out as a multifaceted community destination, offering much more than just gaming facilities. While often categorized as a casino, user reviews consistently highlight its strengths as a welcoming club with excellent dining, attentive staff, and well-regarded function spaces. It's a place where locals can gather for a meal, celebrate special occasions, or simply enjoy a friendly atmosphere.
What Makes Asquith Club Shine π
Exceptional Staff & Service π©βπ³
One of the most frequently praised aspects of Asquith Club is its dedicated and professional team. Patrons repeatedly commend staff members like Margaret at the bar for their outstanding service. She is described as "one of the nicest and most professional staff members," treating everyone with respect and kindness, especially older patrons. Her ability to remember names adds a personal touch that significantly enhances the club's welcoming vibe. Similarly, the catering staff in the function rooms are lauded for being "friendly, professional and eager to please."
Delicious Dining at The Lodge π
The club's bistro, 'The Lodge', receives high marks for its food quality and variety. Reviewers rave about the "amazing" burgers, particularly the "lodge burger" which is a hit with kids. The menu offers a "surprising range," suggesting options for diverse tastes. Many appreciate the "great food" and the convenience of "fabulous weekly members deals" which offer excellent value, making it a popular spot for regular meals.
Versatile Function Facilities π₯³
Asquith Club proves to be an ideal venue for events, with its function room receiving accolades for hosting successful gatherings. Reviews mention "excellent catering with a three course meal provided" for club presentations, indicating a capable and accommodating events team. This makes the club a strong contender for private functions and community events.
Inviting Atmosphere & Decor ποΈ
Beyond the food and service, the club is described as having a "great club" feel with "nice decor." This suggests a comfortable and pleasant environment for members and guests to relax and socialize.
Areas for Improvement β οΈ
Accessibility Concerns βΏ
One significant point of criticism relates to accessibility. A recent review points out a concerning discrepancy: an entrance marked with a wheelchair picture misleadingly features three steps, raising questions about genuine wheelchair access. This is a critical area that the club needs to address to ensure it is truly inclusive and accessible for all patrons.
Payment Surcharges π³
An older review highlights an issue with payment transparency, noting an extra $1 charge for EFTpos payments under $20, made "without any notification." While this review is several years old, it indicates a past practice of "straight out gouging" that could deter patrons if still in effect. Clear communication about payment policies is essential.
Overall Verdict β
Despite minor setbacks related to accessibility and past payment practices, the Asquith Club generally earns high praise as a vibrant community hub. Its strengths lie in its consistently excellent food at The Lodge bistro, the outstanding professionalism and warmth of its staff, and its capacity to host successful functions. It's a club that clearly values its patrons, making it a popular choice for families and community groups in the Sydney area. For a welcoming atmosphere, good food, and strong community engagement, Asquith Club comes highly recommended, though potential visitors with accessibility needs should inquire about current arrangements.
Margaret at the bar is one of the nicest and most professional staff members Iβve seen. She treats everyone with respect and is especially kind to the older patrons . So lovely to see in this day and age. Iβm amazed she remembers so many peopleβs names.Burgers at the restaurant are amazing. Kids just love the βlodge burgerβ . Make sure on the busy nights you get your order in early.Canβt fault this place .
Just held our club's presentation lunch in the function room. Catering was excellent with three course meal provided. Catering staff were friendly, professional and eager to please. All of our members really enjoyed the day
The entrance with a wheelchair picture has 3 steps. How does this work ... wheelchair users with jet packs ?
Great club. Nice decor. The new operators of 'The Lodge' bistro have great food and a surprising range within the menu. Fabulous weekly members deals for every night of the week.
Foods good club food although they charge an extra $1 for any meal payment under $20 made with eftpos (in my instance without any notification). That's just straight out gouging - not good.
