Tropicana Resort & Casino Guide and Review

Located in Poipet, Cambodia, Tropicana Resort & Casino stands out as a primary destination for gaming enthusiasts and those seeking a unique resort experience. While its core offering is its casino, the establishment presents a blend of old-world charm and surprising tranquility, as noted by visitors.
The Casino Experience đ°
The casino at Tropicana offers a distinctive atmosphere, frequently compared to the "old days in Las Vegas" where patrons could enjoy eating at gaming tables and even smoke in the hotel lobby. This contributes to a relaxed and nostalgic environment that sets it apart from many modern gaming floors.
- Atmosphere: A notable characteristic is the casino's peaceful ambiance. Visitors have described it as having soft music, barely audible over conversation, and importantly, an absence of drunken yelling or overwhelming slot machine noise. This creates a remarkably calm setting for gaming.
- Gaming Variety: For those who enjoy card games, Tropicana provides a solid selection. Guests can find:
- Blackjack tables with limits ranging from B100 to B2000.
- Pai Gow tables, typically with B200 limits.
- An abundance of Baccarat tables.
- Roulette.
- Staff & Service: The staff receives high praise across the board. Dealers, pit bosses, bathroom attendants, waitresses, and security personnel are consistently described as "nice" and attentive. The resort is reportedly Thai-owned and predominantly Thai-staffed, contributing to a welcoming service culture.
- Casino Rules: A crucial point for visitors is the strict policy against taking photos or videos inside the casino area. Guests should be aware of this rule before entering.
- Cleanliness: Despite minor observations about worn equipment, the casino floor itself is regarded as "very clean."
Dining & Refreshments đŊī¸
Tropicana Resort & Casino offers a few dining options to cater to its guests' needs:
- Healthy Bar Restaurant: This dining venue has received positive feedback for its "fair price," with meals for two often costing B300 or less. Reviewers found the food enjoyable and highlighted the deserving nature of the servers' tips.
- Buffet: A buffet is available, located near the slots and main casino area. On a Thursday, it was priced at B300 per person. A promotional offer allows guests to receive a free buffet ticket when they purchase B3000 in promotional chips at the casino cage.
- Breakfast Buffet: The breakfast buffet, however, has received less favorable reviews. Priced at 10 USD, it was considered "overpriced" by one guest, who noted it offered only "a few items," suggesting that it might be better to seek breakfast elsewhere.
Resort Amenities & General Impressions đ¨
Beyond the gaming floor, Tropicana Resort offers several appealing aspects:
- Views: The resort boasts a "good view," adding to the overall pleasantness of the stay.
- Comfort: It serves as an excellent retreat from the midday heat, providing a cool and comfortable environment for guests.
- Overall Value: Despite minor points regarding equipment wear and the breakfast buffet, the general consensus points towards Tropicana being a good choice for those who enjoy card games in a surprisingly peaceful setting, offering a distinct alternative to louder casino environments.

My mum love to play card games, Good games good place and good luck.
Reminds me of the old days in Las Vegas when you could still eat at the gaming tables and smoke in the hotel lobby. Absolutely love this place...soft music barely audible over the sounds of people talking and not drunkenly yelling nor was there any slot machine noise...it was actually peaceful in this casino. They had 2 Blackjack tables with B100/ B2000 limits and a few B200 Pai Gow tables, Roulette and plenty of Baccarat. The dealers, pit bosses, bathroom attendants, waitresses, security...everybody was nice. Very clean throughout but some worn gaming layouts could be replaced and the chips possibly washed or replaced. Two of us ate at their Healthy Bar restaurant for B300 or less and enjoyed the food at a fair price. Don't forget to tip the servers. They deserve it. The Buffet near to the slots and main casino was B300 per person on a Thursday but we passed. Thai owned and mostly Thai staffed and a great place to get out of the mid day heat.Buy B3000 in promotional chips at the casino cage and get a free ticket to buffet.
My review is only based upon the breakfast buffet. It was overpriced 10 us dollar and the buffet only had a few items. Don't waste your money, go somewhere else.
