El Rancho Hotel, Resort and Casino Guide and Review

El Rancho Hotel, Resort and Casino in Tagaytay presents a highly varied guest experience, with reviews ranging from excellent to severely disappointing. As a primary casino establishment that also offers lodging, its performance appears to be a mixed bag, particularly concerning its core services and guest amenities.
The Casino Experience π°
For a venue whose primary focus is a casino, feedback on the gaming floor is concerning. One reviewer explicitly stated that the "machines are old and mostly needed repair even while I used them." This suggests potential issues with the casino's equipment maintenance and overall gaming experience, which is a significant point for a property emphasizing its casino offerings.
Accommodation & Facilities ππ§ΌπΆ
This is where opinions diverge most sharply, highlighting significant inconsistencies in the guest experience.
Cleanliness π§Όπ©
A significant drawback highlighted by guests is the severe lack of cleanliness. One distressed guest reported the rooms as "nasty," mentioning "cockroaches," "bed bugs," and a "dirty bathroom" with "no water." This reviewer left within an hour of a booked 10-hour stay, indicating a critical failure in basic hygiene standards. This is a severe red flag for potential guests.
Room Comfort & Basic Amenities
Despite the severe cleanliness issues reported by some, other aspects of the rooms themselves received mild praise. One reviewer noted that the "room's own facilities... are good enough to stay in and work," and that "even the shower was good." This suggests that the physical structure of the rooms might be acceptable, but maintenance and upkeep are major issues.
Connectivity πΆ
The Wi-Fi service was a major point of frustration for a foreign guest, described as "sluggish and weak." The reviewer had to "poke them constantly for 3 consecutive days" to address the issue, indicating significant hassle and poor responsiveness in resolving basic amenity problems. This highlights a critical need for improvement in essential connectivity.
Service & Hospitality π€π΄
Guest experiences regarding staff and service also present a contradictory picture.
Staff Responsiveness & Food Quality
On the positive side, some guests found the "people are accommodating" and praised "quality service" regarding staff interactions. The food also received positive remarks, with one reviewer stating it "tastes good." Another highly-rated review, though not providing specific details, also points towards a generally positive sentiment.
Staff Presence & Overall Hospitality π©
However, there's a strong counter-narrative regarding overall hospitality and staff presence. One guest described "hospitality levels are appalling" due to the unaddressed Wi-Fi issues. Furthermore, a peculiar observation was made about the hotel being "very strange without any attendant and a security" during daytime, sometimes "left unattended" with guests seemingly having to "DIY for closing and opening the doors." This points to a significant staffing and security concern, especially on weekdays, suggesting a lack of constant oversight.
Location πΊοΈ
The hotel is noted for its "good spot next to a gas station," making it convenient for "car travelers" looking to "fill in the gas and rest for the night from a long journey." This advantageous location could be a draw for those on the road.
Overall Verdict: A Place of Contradictions π©
El Rancho Hotel, Resort and Casino presents a perplexing mix of experiences. While some aspects like food quality, basic room facilities, and a convenient location are positively noted, these are heavily overshadowed by critical issues.
The casino's outdated and often faulty machines, coupled with the hotel's severe problems concerning cleanliness (cockroaches, bed bugs, dirty bathrooms, lack of water), unreliable Wi-Fi, and inconsistent staff presence/hospitality, are major concerns that cannot be overlooked. Due to these significant shortcomings, particularly the hygiene and operational inconsistencies, it is generally recommended only for very short stays, perhaps "a night or two," for travelers seeking a basic stopover rather than a full resort or casino experience. Potential visitors should manage their expectations, especially regarding fundamental amenities and hygiene standards.

All I can say is βnastyβ. Daming ipis, ung kama may surot, bathroom so dirty tapos wala water. I ask for 10 hrs but I stayed less than an hour. I would like to give this hotel β0β, seriously!!!!
Firstly as a foreigner, we all need WiFi in the modern times as most of our works have gone digital after the pandemic. As a basic facility of the hotel, their WiFi was sluggish and weak. Had to poke them constantly for 3 consecutive days before their staff actually reached out on a serious note. By then, the irony was that I was on my way out. So a customer has to face needless hassle.π‘Secondly, the room's own facilities which are good enough to stay in and work. Even the shower was good. But the hospitality levels are appalling.πThirdly, in daytime, I found this hotel to be very strange without any attendant and a security and the hotel would be left unattended with 1-3 guests occupying the entire building. Especially on weekdays. As thought the guests had to DIY for closing and opening the doors. Lol. That was funny and embarrassing.π€£The hotel is located at a good spot next to a gas station so car travelers can fill in the gas and rest for the night from a long journey. But it needs serious attention to detail for future guests. I can only recommend it for a night or two. π
