Located in the vibrant city of Manila, Philippines, the Midas Hotel and Casino primarily functions as a casino resort, aiming to provide a comprehensive experience for guests. However, recent guest feedback paints a picture of contrasting experiences, highlighting both commendable aspects and significant areas for improvement.
One of the most consistently praised aspects of Midas Hotel and Casino is its exceptional customer service, particularly from the front-line staff. Guests have reported being warmly greeted upon arrival, even late at night, with security promptly assisting with luggage directly to the room. Front desk staff, such as Art and Erroll, are noted for their prompt, professional, and genuinely helpful demeanor, going above and beyond to assist guests with various queries, including local information like getting a SIM card. The staff generally treats guests with respect and smiles, contributing positively to the overall atmosphere.
For families seeking a relaxing staycation, Midas offers quite large rooms, providing ample space for comfort. The hotelโs lobby is frequently mentioned for its pleasant aroma and impeccable cleanliness, setting a positive initial tone. Rooms themselves are often described as very clean, contributing to a sense of well-being for many visitors.
A significant concern raised by multiple guests is the apparent aging of the hotel's infrastructure. Many feel that the place "has seen better days." Issues include:
The hotel's dining experience receives mixed to negative feedback. Restaurant food is often described as mediocre at best, yet priced at "premium rates." Furthermore, guests face restrictions and charges for bringing in outside liquor or food. A particularly alarming incident reported was a case of food poisoning from the hotel's burgers, followed by a highly unprofessional and unhelpful response from the hotel manager who argued with the guest and demanded proof, despite having been informed earlier. This highlights a critical lapse in customer care when serious health issues arise.
While some aspects of service shine, others are notably inconsistent. Guests have reported long waits for basic requests, such as a 39-minute wait for ice. Check-out can be a "big hassle" due to minor issues like a misplaced bath towel, leading to unnecessary delays. Facility-wise, more than half of the elevators have been reported as out of service, sometimes leaving only one functional elevator, which can be a major inconvenience.
Despite its Manila address, the hotel's immediate surroundings make it challenging to access nearby establishments without private transportation. Guests have expressed concerns about the safety and ease of walking to nearby areas and suggested that the hotel should consider offering shuttle services to improve guest convenience and safety.
Midas Hotel and Casino presents a polarizing experience. On one hand, the staff's dedication to service, particularly at the front desk, offers a genuinely welcoming and helpful touch. The lobby and initial room cleanliness are also positive highlights. On the other hand, the hotel appears to be in dire need of significant renovations to address its aging infrastructure, which negatively impacts guest comfort and convenience, from plumbing to carpets and basic room amenities.
Prospective guests should weigh the excellent human element against the potential for an outdated physical environment and inconsistent operational efficiency, especially regarding dining quality and crisis management. If superior customer service is your top priority and you are less concerned about minor room imperfections or are prepared for potential food-related issues, Midas might offer a decent stay. However, if modern amenities, consistent service, and reliable dining are paramount, exploring other nearby options might be a more satisfying choice, as some guests suggest better value can be found elsewhere for less or comparable cost.
Our family had a relaxing and comfortable staycation this Holy week at Midas. The room was quite large, though the room lights could be made brighter. Unless one has their own transport, it's not easy (and safe) to go to nearby establishments. Hope the hotel would consider offering shuttle services to their guests.
This place has seen better days. I'm sure it was beautiful at some point in the past. Most of the plumbing in the bathrooms doesn't drain properly, wall paper is peeling off the walls and warped and bubbled. The carpets are absolutely disgusting, should have been replaced years ago. All electrical outlets are at floor level and behing furniture, so you have to be a contortionist and get on your hands and knees to charge even a phone. They've closed their little store now, which makes drinking water a major problem. They only give 1/2 liter of water a day and there is not place else in the hotel to get water once you run out. More than half of the elevators were out of service, except on one day only one elevator was in service. The "coffee" provided in the rooms was the cheapest most disgusting instant coffee you can probably find in country. The food in the restaurant is mediocre at best, yet they charge premium rates. Do yourself a favor, there are better hotels nearby that cost less.
Exceptional customer service! As soon as our cab dropped us off from the airport, we were greeted by the security and immediately took care of our luggages despite of it being already midnight. They dropped it off inside our room as soon as we checked in and made sure we didnโt need anything else. The next morning, we were supposed to check out but due to unexpected circumstances we couldnโt make it back in time so I had to extend our stay for another night. Art and Erroll at the front desk were very helpful. They answered the phone very promptly, professional and would go above and beyond to make sure they could help you (even on questions like โwhat is the easiest way i could do to get a local simcard?โ).The lobby smells really good and very clean. They will treat you with respect and all smiles. The room is very clean and I highly recommend this place!
Overall good value for money. Lots of restrictions and charges for bringing in liquor or food from outside. Water was warm m, not hot in shower. Service was average. 39 minute wait for ice. Big hastle checking out because house cleaning could only find 1 bath towel. Later after minutes of delay they found it. Over 1 bath towel?! Really absurd. Would rather spend twice as much for better quality service. I won't be coming back.
Got really bad food poisoning eating their burgers. Hotel manager had to argue with me for 10 min that we needed to show proof and then told us that the hotel would have called a nurse to check on us if we had informed them, which we had done, at 0730 am. We ended up ordering meds and electrolytes on grab and then had to ask for a late check out as our flight was not until night time and we were way too sick to go anywhere. Really unprofessional and no idea about customer service, we get that he didn't want to admit to wrong doing, however, minimal care for the terrible situation we were in as travellers would have been good. Air con dripped on carpet which made the room smelly. Bathroom lights were automatic and stayed on for 5 min so everytime we went to the bathroom because of the food poisoning, the light and fan kept us awake. Impossible to manually turn off.
