Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos Rizal, primarily known for its casino, also operates as a resort and hotel. User reviews paint a mixed picture, highlighting both promising aspects and significant areas requiring improvement. While some guests found spacious accommodations and enjoyable facilities, others reported issues with service, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.
The feedback on rooms is varied. Newer villa rooms are praised for being spacious and well-appointed, often offering pleasant pool views. However, other rooms are described as less impressive, with complaints about basic LED TVs and a lack of modern amenities like Netflix or YouTube, which can be inconsistent even between different room types. A significant concern raised by a guest was the cleanliness of the rooms, specifically mentioning dirty beds leading to bites and unkempt curtains, suggesting a need for more thorough housekeeping.
This is a frequently cited area for improvement. While some guests encountered friendly staff who were willing to offer room upgrades and provide assistance with luggage, many experienced serious issues. Complaints include slow service, with long waits for basic requests like extra towels or poolside orders. The absence of a dedicated hotel desk, replaced by the casino concierge, was noted as a detractor from proper hotel servicing. More concerning are reports of unprofessional and unaccommodating staff, including rude guards and bellboys. One distressing review detailed instances of staff appearing judgmental and engaging in discriminatory behavior, closely monitoring certain guests while others reportedly partied unmonitored. This suggests a significant deficiency in hospitality training and guest relations.
The resort's pools received generally positive remarks, with the new pool being described as great, big, and clean. For some, it provided an enjoyable, private experience. However, there were observations of visible wear and tear in both the casino and pool areas, with specific mentions of cushions needing replacement. This indicates that while the facilities can be a highlight, consistent maintenance and deeper cleaning are necessary to uphold quality.
The food quality garners mixed, but often critical, reviews. While some found the paid/ordered food to be "okay" or "not bad," the breakfast buffet repeatedly received negative feedback. It has been described as needing "creativity and enhancement" and, in one severe instance, as "the worst we've had." This suggests that the culinary offerings, particularly the breakfast, fall short of guest expectations for a resort experience.
Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos Rizal is noted for its secluded ambiance, offering views of trees and a golf course that make it feel distant from the city bustle. Despite this tranquil feel, it's conveniently located just a 40-minute drive from Taytay, making it accessible for a quick getaway.
Based on guest feedback, several key areas need immediate attention:
Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos Rizal presents itself as a destination for both gaming and relaxation. While it offers some positives, such as spacious new villa rooms and a great pool, it is significantly hampered by inconsistent service, cleanliness issues, and a substandard dining experience. Guests seeking a truly relaxing or luxurious resort experience may find themselves disappointed, particularly regarding staff interactions and basic hotel operations. The resort appears to be in dire need of substantial upgrades across its facilities and a fundamental retraining of its staff to consistently deliver a positive guest experience worthy of its pricing.
taffs looking at us while entering our room. And it looks they are judging us. I have seen one room from our front that looks like they are having a party, also asked for extra chairs and they were also a lot but they were not monitored unlike us. We feel discriminated. Does it look like we are poor and they are rich? We are already aware that 10pm guests shouldnt be in the room anymore but we still got reported and reminded. This is the first time we encountered this, we have been to bigger 5star hotels and they dont count guests. I guess you needed bigger income as you dont have a lot of visitors to book with you anymore. The room is also not that clean esp the beds that we get bites. The curtain is also dirty.I hope we get refunded or if you can rebook us a new one to make it up to us. We need a good experience from this hotel since we paid much for it.I hope this my email reach the right management.
Rooms-The new room in villas are spacious and good. We stayed a family suite and 2 deluxe suites all with pool view. The new pool is great, big and clean. For me personally, we had it for ourselves.Service-Needs improvment because there is no proper hotel desk(replaced by the casino concierge) and the staff needs retraining on basic hotel servicing.Location-This is because we live in Taytay and this feels(ambience, view, trees, birds, golf course) so far but just a 40 minute drive actually.Food-The paid/ordered food is okay. But the breakfast buffet needs creativity and enhancement.
This hotel is clearly not a new hotel. The general environment is clean and nice to view, yes. But the wear and tear in the casino and the pool area is visible and needs to be cleaned more thouroughly. The service is a bit slow as well. It took us at least 30 mins just to get an extra towel to be delived to our room and about an hour before a staff was able to assist us in taking orders by the pool side.Though I have to note that I appreciate the friendliness of the staff.
Stay away from this hotel/resort if your purpose is to relax or to take a time off from you busy life.We booked two rooms during the Travel Madness Expo. Mr. Francis, General Manager, was very accommodating and professional during the time of booking. He gave me his direct number in case we have requests or concerns before the stay. Everything was smooth until we arrived at the hotel. The guard didn't even smile nor greet us. Smiling/greeting is a common practice when you are in the hospitality industry. Very few staff members do this in this hotel. We arrived 1:55 PM and there was no room available. The bellboy, who took charge of the front desk while the receptionist was away, was rude and unaccommodating. We waited two hours for our rooms. When we finally had our keycards, they gave us the wrong rooms. We requested for 1 twin-bed room and 1 queen-bed room. They gave us two twin bed rooms. We had to wait for another 30 minutes for them clean the other room.I still have so much to say about this hotel but will end it here. Waste of money.Oh, and their breakfast buffet is the worst we've had. This hotel needs a big upgrade from staff to hotel facilities. Rooms are still stuck with basic LED TVs.
We came a couple hours after check-in time and it went smoothly. There is a cash security deposit required, so I would make sure you have cash. The staff was kind enough to upgrade our room to a premium room for free just so our rooms could be next to each other. I will say I was surprised the premium room tv did not have Netflix or YouTube available, but our other smaller room did. It was a little confusing trying to find the main entrance, as we later found out that the security led us to the casino entrance and not the main check-in entrance, but they still allowed us to check-in at the desk there. There was a free shuttle and driver that helped bring our luggages to and from our room during check-in and check-out. The rooms were super hot when we got there and took a while for the room to get cool, but that's expected since it's peak heat season in the PI. The pools were our favorite part of the resort, although the cushions could be replaced! The food could definitely be better, but it wasn't bad. Overall, we enjoyed our 3 day stay.
