Watch our Wild Aces Poker Room review

Wild Aces Poker Room, located in Olongapo City, Philippines, aims to be a hub for poker enthusiasts. However, recent user feedback paints a complex picture, highlighting both its inherent potential and a significant number of operational and ethical concerns that players should be aware of.

What Could Be Good:

  • â™ ī¸ Early Impressions: An older review noted a "nice little setup" with "nice and helpful staff," even mentioning complimentary breakfast, indicating a potentially welcoming environment in the past.
  • â™Ŗī¸ Game Variety: The room reportedly offers both cash games and tournaments, catering to different player preferences and allowing various ways to enjoy the game.

Major Concerns and Recurring Issues:

The majority of recent reviews raise serious alarms, primarily revolving around game integrity, management, and player safety. It's crucial for potential visitors to understand these critical aspects:

  1. 🎲 Allegations of Collusion and Scamming:

Several players, particularly foreigners, report strong suspicions of collusion among local players, often described as "house players" working in concert. This includes instances of players speaking in local languages despite English-only rules during hands, showing cards to each other, and strategically ganging up on foreign players through coordinated betting patterns. There are direct accusations that dealers are complicit in these activities, potentially even manipulating outcomes based on all-in card reveals, raising significant questions about the fairness of the games.

  2. đŸšĢ Poor Management and Rule Enforcement:

A consistent complaint across multiple recent reviews is the lack of effective management and inconsistent rule enforcement. Issues cited include:

    • Not utilizing tournament clocks correctly.
    • Permitting table talk and collusion among players.
    • Insufficient number of dealers or tables being open, leading to potential wait times or limited game options.
    • Ignoring their own posted rules, such as allowing vaping despite "No Vaping" signs, while previously enforcing mask mandates. This inconsistency is a concern for player health and comfort.
    • A clear and repeated call for an experienced card room manager to address these systemic operational issues is prevalent in feedback.
  3. 🚨 Safety and Environmental Hazards:

Beyond the game itself, physical safety concerns have been raised by reviewers:

    • The venue is described as potentially overcrowded, with limited exits (one main exit and one door leading to a bar), leading to fears of it being a "death trap" in case of a fire, citing a potential for customers to be too packed.
    • The allowance of vaping indoors despite explicit rules contributes to an unhealthy environment for customers and staff, ignoring health and safety regulations.
    • Most alarmingly, one reviewer reported being threatened with physical violence by Filipino players and poker room workers after confronting them about suspected collusion, prompting an immediate departure for safety.
  4. 📉 Declining Standards?:

The stark contrast between an older, more positive review and recent, overwhelmingly negative ones suggests a potential decline in operational standards, management oversight, and overall player experience over the past few years. This shift indicates a need for significant improvement.

Overall Verdict: Proceed with Extreme Caution âš ī¸

While Wild Aces Poker Room might offer the basic setup for poker, the overwhelming number of recent, serious complaints regarding game integrity, potential scamming, lack of professional management, and even physical safety threats paint a deeply concerning picture. Players, especially foreigners, should be acutely aware of these risks before visiting.

Until significant and verifiable improvements are made, particularly in establishing transparent and fair game practices, strict rule enforcement, and ensuring player safety from both environmental hazards and threatening behavior, Wild Aces Poker Room appears to be a high-risk environment for those seeking an honest and enjoyable poker experience in Olongapo City.

As I've written several times in the past, this place needs a card room manager. Just in 1 week playing the tournaments, the clock wasn't utilized correctly, along with table talk, collusion amongst players, not enough dealers or tables being open. So many problems, but this place has potential. As stated many times this place needs a card room manager with experience. This card room needs renovated and spacial awareness, I can easily fit 2 to 4 more tables in here. It's also a death trap if this place catches fire, it will be to packed with customers with 1 main exit, and 1 door leading to the main bar. Hope thus place never catches fire, lol

They dont follow the rules. Only English when in the hand but dealer still allows players to speak to other players in different languages. It's like collusion. I thought it was friendly till Filipino players was showing their cards to each other then betting. Dealer didn't do a damn thing. Looks like scam on foreigners so becareful

Most the staff are great but it bothers me they allow vaping even though they have signs saying it not permitted. Strangely they made people wear masks during the fake pandemic but will not enforce a rule to protect their customers and staff from a real threat to their health.

The biggest scam ever! Every Filipino player is a house player. They are all working together against the foreigners. The dealers are in on it. That is why they have the ridiculous rule that all cards must be shown when a player is all-in, so the dealers know what cards to put down so the house players win. They also won't let you change seats or tables because they have strategically placed 3-5 house players per table so there is always more of them to gang up on the foreigners. Every time a foreigner raises, a Filipino house player re-raises, the other house players call, and then they bet you out of the pot. They did this over and over again. If it is just Filipino players in the hand, they just check it down. I said something about this obvious collusion and the Filipino players and poker room workers said they were going to jump me. They said this in Tagalog and my wife told me. They had already started gathering around my seat when my wife told me we should leave. Not only are they criminals, they are also cowards. Unless you like being scammed for all your money, stay away from this place. And here's another news flash, every poker room in the Philippines is running the same house player scam.
